The Tigers have been extremely fortunate

To have two generational quarterbacks in a row as they did with Watson and Lawrence. Bryant and DJ didn’t quite excel as did the other two. Klubnik has a chance to be great but he has work to do. Many other programs have gone thru this same situation. It is very unrealistic to think that our Tigers will dominate college football every Year. That is why we play the games. . . To see who is best that day. I truly admire Coach Swinney and his staff for the work that they do to keep our university in the news for all the RIGHT reasons. It wasn’t very many years ago that many people knew little or nothing about the university that I attended AND support. People do not by tickets to see guys take a chemistry exam. Graduation ceremonies are not televised nationally. Sports allows us the recognition that we now receive. Let’s appreciate what we have and totally support the coaches and players who bring attention and fame to Clemson University. Negativity never helps. There is no reason to bash the coaches and administrators when things don’t go your way.

Clemson is the best. Even if they aren’t perfect in your eyes.

They are in mine . Go Tigers

I started buying season tickets in 1974 and I did because I loved Clemson in all sports and had been going to basketball and football games for years. Season tickets were a chance to have fun, create memories, hope for wins and when our children were born, expose them to the school they would both graduate from and would give them wonderful husbands and fathers of our grandchildren. As the wins came, our reasons for going to games never changed. Too many fans today only want to see the Championship celebrations and fail to see the entire experience. Too bad for them.

You could not be more correct.

And the good thing is ….. Clemson has a lot of faithful and loving fans and alumni just as you are.

Pride is a word I like to see and hear and you and many others share this positive trait.

I TU. You!

You are spot on...

and I think the build up to the current mentality has been nurtured by the overload of media as well. Even as recent as the 90s, a fan really only got to see maybe 5 or 6 games a year and that's only if you lived in the JPS territory or the ABC regional zone. You had to go to the games otherwise.

You can maybe catch highlights if we were ranked/or the opponent and you caught sportscenter in time (or local news if you lived in SC). The only articles were in your local papers and talk on the sparce local radio shows. Then you could hear the coach on his weekly radio show or the coaches tv show (again, you have to live within the ACC footprint to get it).

You didnt have the daily dose of 15 articles on the team from multiple sources, all the stuff on twitter, facebook, etc. and then all of the local and national shows now. Opinions are all in hypermode and when you couple that with too many fans that tie Clemson's success to their egos/self-worth...you get the environment we have now.

Having said all that, I love being able to find extensive coverage at the drop of a hat and watching every game...however, it can really become a detriment to your life when you put it too high on the list.

Gotta ride the waves of fandom.

I remember in 1969, we were in the old Fike Fieldhouse locker room getting taped and ready to go out and play Maryland. It was torrential rain all day and was so bad the highway patrol captain brought all the officers into the locker room to hold his pregame talk to the patrolmen. We were standing around, half dressed and there were cops everywhere clad in raincoats. (never forget, the Captain told them if they saw someone drinking from a flask or a hidden bottle, just ignore them, unless they were causing a problem). Anyway, 2 hours before the game, there were fans already coming into the Valley and standing outside Fike doing cadence cheers. The Players watched them through the windows and I remember thinking to myself "these people are crazy" to be out here in this cold rain like this. Only after I graduated and became a Clemson Fan did I understand.

Oh, BTW, we beat Maryland 40-0 in that rain storm that day.

maybe I'd could have gotten some NIL money, but with my GPA I doubt it.

Great post you'd think that Coach Dabo had let us all down and we have a losing record...I think that if you don't like what Dabo is doing go root for Texas A&M and see a true $10.5 million albatross...the aggies can't stand the loser but can't afford to buy him out!

Very few true freshmen are ready to play QB but unfortunately it's tough to convince highly ranked guys to sit on the bench for a year or two until they are ready. I'm pretty confident that Cade will work out by the time he's an upperclassmen but only a couple of programs are currently able to stockpile highly recruited QBs these days.

Only juniors and seniors are considered upperclassmen.
