Just speculation! When Stoudt and Watson were battling for the qb job a few years ago, it was well known that Watson was the best choice but Stoudt had the seniority on the team.Stoudt was named the starter but Watson won the job. Could it be that the coaches want to keep the controversy down by staying quiet? Bryant's passing skills were in question last season. Can he make all the throws needed in our offense? Be it Bryant,Cooper, ,or Johnson, may the best qb be named starter.

Is that we'll be able to handle the gamecocks! After Muschump said "game on", it turned frightening!

I hope we do go with the best. I never thought Stoudt should have started over DW, but he still got the nod. My opinion is based on how they looked in games. I hope we have learned that just because a guy is older that he gets the nod over a guy wh is better. I believe that cost us 2 games that year.

Ever wonder if Stoudt looked as good in practice early that fall as he did against Oklahoma in the bowl game? He looked like a pro against them!
That could've been the factor, and maybe his practice to game reps just didn't translate.
Just a thought.

Let's be clear about one thing; Stoudt did not win the job

over Watson due to some sense of misguided loyalty by Dabo; he won it because of experience. There is a huge difference. To keep perpetuating the idea that Stoudt won it because he had seniority and had therefore earned it in Dabo's mind is preposterous. Stoudt won it because he had far more experience, and they weren't sure how Watson would handle it in a real game with everything on the line.

It seemed like there was less coverage of spring practice this year. Fewer interviews.....fewer reports about how things seemed to be going. Now I understand why. Less access......I wonder if you all will get a little more these next 2 weeks.
I appreciate your efforts!

probably the coaches don't want to show their hand for next year yet, specifically at QB

The spring game I think will be televised again. Our rivals will get at least a peak.

Because Bryant has won the job and we are going back to the 80's triple option!

Even if one of the QB does win the job outright, I see no benefit in tipping our hand. I would keep our competition in the dark as long as possible.
Go Tigers!

The Spring Game will not tell the coaches anything they will

not know after these practices. How many spring game heros have we seen in the past, never to see them on the field in the regular season. I wouldn't put too much stock in what we do or do not do in that game. Just sayin'!

It maybe just me BUT, this sounds like the exact same language that's spoken every off season until we get into the meat of our schedule, and there we will see who the starters are at every position on both sides of the ball.

Unfortunately for Tavien he was behind the curve technique and skill wise before getting on campus. He never had to block in high school so there was never much emphasis on it...well, in our system you gotta block..it's that simple. The NFL won't even look at RBs in the spread system if they can't block...he needs to keep working hard.

New Year! New Team! But, Same Staff ( pretty much)
Mar 27, 2017, 7:18 PM
|
|
If this staff has not proven they can win with or w/o great players in the line up then nobody has. Mike Williams missed an entire season. Watson, did not play vs. " old ye mighty Oklahoma ", the defense has been " started from scratch " numerous times b/c guys are put in position to make plays; then get drafted to the league! Tajh Boyd was really good, Deshaun Watson was super! I like all the QB's the Tigers have competing for the starting job! I think the QB who no matter where they are @ the end of spring. Whoever uses the weeks before the start of fall camp to get all the nuisances of the CU offense down will win the job! Ultimately, it is about who can matriculate the offense down the football field consistently/effectively! Elliott and Scott deserve a ton of credit b/c other programs get big name QB's who never get better! These guys here had better do all the little things right! Then, even before Kent St. starter is named; whoever it is " will not be able to just get comfortable ". In short, this QB competition being tough and grueling is making them tougher mentally which is always a good thing to be as a QB. And, ensures we get someone who is going to be highly motivated to move the football! When you think of WR with: Cain, McCloud, Renfrow, Thompson, Overton, Higgins, Chase and Powell! I.E. plenty of weaponery to throw to. Milan or HRD thinks J.C. Chalk will be a household name before he is done @ Cu @ TE and you have a solid receiving corps. Really good depth @ RB. The defense should be one of the best in the land next season! Can't wait! **All that said, " still want to see how they look when the lights are on and people are in the stands during the spring game. Some kids are just practice warriors; but choke when it's game time and people besides teammates and coaches are watching. It won't be the whole story; but may help " hint toward" who turns it up when the lights are on them! Spring game may be sold out this year, LOL! If a kid has the deer in the headlights look; ah it may be too much for them! If they " turn up " then you know they are a P.T.P( prime time player ). And that's what we want!
