NCAA

Dec 16, 2021, 8:51 PM

Since they do nothing to regulate college sports and they are terrified of lawsuits, it’s time to end their reign.
Disband the NCAA and create a 5 conference league that is run by the college Presidents. This will put the student back in the student/athlete.
The new governing body must put rules and regulations in place to stop this anarchy. They must take responsibility for running college sports.

Every state has different NIL laws. Ncaa has left it to the states to pass their own rules and regulate themselves.

The NCAA has become a weak group. There needs to be another structure without question. Your idea of the Presidents being in charge is a great idea. The corruption needs to go. ESPN has added to the problems as they promote certain teams for tv ratings. The CF committee has done a great fair job. They would be much better to operate college sports than the present NCAA structure. College sports is out of control at present.

They’ve always been weak and only care about $$$, not athletes or students.

They absolutely destroy small schools to look like they are doing something and let their cash cows skate. Always.

And only losing ground every passing day.

The presidents idea would still allow too much decision due to bias. I think there would need to be 1 commissioner that is the end all. Bucks stops with them, and likewise, the blame. Have the presidents as board member types that vote on the commish. It'd be JV NFL, which basically fits this mold now

Re: NCAA - - - failure that needs to be replaced

waterboyII, you're spot-on about the NCAA having become an obsolete venture that is only useful for making money for themselves and their 'commercial partners' such as ESPN.

The general model of the Ivy League schools might be a good template from which to start the 'do over.'

A league of college members first agrees to an 'amateur only' status for all athletes. The colleges each pay for the cost of the entire college experience (including some meaningful 'walking-around' money) for the athletes. The athletes sign a binding contract which does not allow for them (at least while school is in session) to hold 'outside jobs.' Of course, while school is not in session, it is hard to imagine any legal scenario in which the true-amateur college athlete cannot get a paying job (like a summer job).

Not pretending to have come up with a comprehensive template for the 'amateur athlete again' league, but you get the picture.

The SEC will pick the 32 most

Dec 16, 2021, 9:37 PM

Profitable schools and form a supper conference.

They will ditch the NCAA.

They will model themselves after the NFL.

I think the NCAA has said, or at least thinking about, letting each conference police itself.
