The #'s - when is cheapest moment to remove CBB

Mar 16, 2023, 1:51 PM

The following are the buyout numbers and incentives:

Termination in contract year 5/1/21 – 4/30/22: $50,000 per month remaining - we missed this window

Termination in contract year 5/1/22 – 4/30/23: $65,000 per month remaining
Today is March 16, 2023 - lay him off now means $65K for 36 months right?
If so, then it would be $2,340,000

Termination in contract year 5/1/23 4/30/24: $85,000 per month remaining
REmove after end of next season and before 5/1/2024, cost to Clemson would be: $85K for 24 months.
Cost of $2,040,000

Termination in contract year 5/1/24 – 4/30/25: $125,000 per month remaining
If CBB gets two years and is let go before 5/1/25, cost $1.5 million right

Termination in contract year 5/1/25 – 4/30/26: $250,000 per month remainin
REmove this one from consideration.

Then look at salary for CBB alone:
$2.75 million for 2022-24
$3 million for 2024-26

So he gets next year and is removed at end of season = $2.04 million 24 month buyout + $2.75 million = $4.79mil

If he goes to April 2025, then cost is $2.75 mil salary + $3 mil salary + $1.5 mil 12 month buyout = $7.25 million

Doesn't it make more sense economically to terminate CBB now versus end of season next year?

Yes, that would be true if you plan on getting rid of him.

Neff doesn't plan on getting rid of Brad. If he did, he would've done it by now.

Neff is clearly content with inconsistency and mediocrity.

If only "best" was REALLY the standard !!!

I for one am glad you are stopping. You are one of the most ignorant posters ever. You obviously think very highly of your own opinion, unlike the rest of us - RockHillTiger

Then Neff is making a terrible decision. Why keep Brad? What has he done? There are coaches making what he’s making that have achieved more. There is no excuse. You lost to freaking Morehead st. At home. He rarely makes the tournament and typically loses first round when he does. It’s time to move on.

Neff’s hiding, along with Brad … both should be embarrassed …

I agree with JK, Neff isn't planning on firing Brad.

Clemson basketball benefitted from the ACC being a dumpster fire this season. Our record and numbers looked pretty decent, and that's what Neff will fall back on to publicly justify not firing him.

I also know losing to Moorhead was a real kick in the ball (s) to Neff's credibility, and our basketball team is seriously dysfunctional.

The cost of not getting rid of him is much greater than sending him packing.
Donations, fan base, good will, ticket sales, student give a crud.
Do it nowwwwwww!
