I love the Tigers, don't get me wrong. But I hate seeing Dabo and the players falling for the "poor old us, we're not getting any respect" narrative. Dabo has been so careful NOT to get caught up in this type thing and, unfortunately, he's starting to sound more like Nick Saban, the whining crybaby of college football. Now the players are beginning to join in. Bring back the humility guys and let your play on the field speak for you!

you couldn't be more wrong, we were not getting any respect, dont be the ESPN homer who simply upchucks the same narrative over in over. They gave no respect, and when the championship is in hand then they try and say they said we were awesome all along...just not true

I see it as Dabo doing what any HC should do, stand up for his players when they felt they had been dissed for having an amazing season, but was left out of all accolades that are presented to players that has had a great season!!!
Our players play was being spoken loud and clear on the field of play, but backs were being turned to them!!!

The problem is . . . that's not accurate

Dabo certainly is standing up for his players, and for that matter, the accomplishments of himself and his whole staff. NONE of that is a problem whatsoever. No apologies necessary for that lobbying by Dabo.
The problem is, IN ADDITION to that, he throws in this "poor ole Clemson" card in a more *general*, overarching way ("they're trying to keep us out of the playoffs," "they don't respect us," "we have to win 30 in a row just to get in" etc.). All of THIS stuff IS laughable. Clemson has gotten tons of respect, from commentators across the spectrum - loads of special pieces written and filmed about our program's culture, Dabo's background, and on, and on, and on. And that playoff that they are "trying" to keep us out of? Well, crap, we're placing #3 in that thus far. Not even on the bubble, but yet, they're supposedly "trying to keep us out," or "don't want us in" or whatever. Well heck, they're doing a terrible job of implementing that plan, I guess.
So, consider the defense of his players individual accomplishments "Complaint A," and his assertations about playoff bias "complaint B." Well, we can acknowledge Complaint A is legitimate. But, the problem is, every time someone points out that complaint B doesn't wash, we are again given the defense that "he is just defending his players and program." But that line of argument relates to Complaint A, and has nothing to do with B. You can't defend comments about "wanting to keep us out of the playoff that we're currently #3 in," by suggesting that ETN should be a Heisman or Doak Walker candidate. Please. Those who are defending Dabo's are co-mingling two different claims. Dabo is right to highlight the lack of due regard many players individual accomplishments have gotten, but the playoff comments - are, well, they WOULD be funny if they weren't so glaringly false. There are 3 unbeaten teams. Dabo can do the math. Someone must be #3. If Dabo thinks that BY DEFINITION, that means someone wants that #3 team OUT of the playoff, then I've got some beachfront property in the Sahara for him. But I don't think he really thinks that. I think he's simply over-selling his point. But he needs to be advised to tone it down. This is the kind of thing that will make us get portrayed as the whiny privileged types of the college football world. Dabo is a wonderful and gracious guy, but he needs to learn to extend that character trait to this issue and be less sensitive.

Dabo is right! If we lose we’re out (and we should be). But if OSU or LSU loses, the media will lobby to keep them in! Along with GA. If Alabama had not slipped up against Auburn, they would be in. If OSU loses, they should be out, too! Alabama should be out b/c they could not even win their conference. If GA beats LSU, they should be in and LSU should be out.
We are just as good as LSU and OSU. But talking heads on TV and radio are saying both are in, even with a loss. IMO, they, like us, should be OUT if they lose Saturday.
That’s what I am upset about, and maybe Coach is too!

I agree - kb .... Although he’s not trashing UVa ... great offense, great QB, etc ... I prefer that they let their play do all the talking.... Also - know Dabo is playing the disrespect card to fire up the team - but he could just as easily do it privately with the team .... jmho

You just make too much darn sense. I wish everyone on this board had a take that was as level-headed and chill as yours.
Yes, 3 is just about right given the goings on this year. No biggie at all. We're where we want to be.

We may or may not be the best team in the country, but at least wait on us to get beat before making that decision bc we are the defending NC that hasn't lost a game since becoming the NC'S. UNC had a chance to beat us, but our Defence made a decision that it wasn't going to happen, and the play that UNC tried to beat us with, it wasn't even close to working out for them bc our D stood tall and stopped them in their tracks, and no one has come close since, and that is bc the team made the choice to not let that happen again. But all good teams have those types of game in their season, and it's not easy to win all 12 games in a season!!!
LSU only beat a 5 loss Texas team by 8 points, and a 3 loss Aubarn team by 3. We all play our schedule and hope for the best, but there will be a Close game in a 12 game season no matter how good you are!!!

I have seen only one game out of 12 games that showed that we can play poorly if we drops passes, turn the ball over with fumbles or throwing the ball into the hands of our opponents. Our guys have played only one game out of 12 that showed we could beat ourselves if we didn't prepare the way our coaches taught them to prepare or pay strict attention to what the coaches were telling them. That game with UNC was one of those games that our players could have easily lost, but when they had the opportunity to stand up and prove they had the ability stop UNC when it most counted, they done exactly that. We hear those out side our program say that UNC just missed the 2 point conversion, when the truth was, our D stood tall and stopped them. At that point where it was win or lose, those guy never doubted that they was going to stop UNC in their tracks, and they wasn't going to get the two points they needed to win bc, I saw an unstoppable D that one play!!! UNC didn't miss it, our Tigers Took it!!!

Even had UNC gotten the 2 points doesn't say that we would have lost the game. Trevor still had over a minute to get us within FG range to win or even score a TD. If I recall we still had 2 TO's left as well. That's an eternity for Trevor. The previous drive only took 6 plays and 2:40 to score a TD and we weren't in a 2 minute drill. The last drive at USuC before halftime was a prime example of what our offense can do when they need to.
