He didn't have a choice. He had to adapt and I applaud him for doing so.

When you're able to retain a lot of players, there's only so much room for high school recruits and portal players.

He won't, and he shouldn't, CUT players like the sec and other schools have always done. ESPN should make a new graphic showing how many players didn't enter the portal. My second love Marshall, has had over 40 portal players the past 2 years and will have to do so again for 2025. It makes it hard as a fan to buy in.

The only problem with that is the last two years

He chose to take late high school lower ranked fall backs where many of them had connections to the program. He could have easily taken 4 portal players each year the last two years and not those fall back guys. I applaud what he has done now with this and the coaching changes the last two years.

Honestly, 36 with only 3 portal additions is pretty darn good considering most of the top 25 are in double digits.

It’s all about perspective & plus 36th is a lot better than *N/A* ranking by far

Unfortunately it's primarily due to a corresponding drop in our recruiting rankings. Worse HS class in over a decade means he's gotta do something.
