FSU vs. Maryland Evaluation

What do you think? Did FSU pound Maryland because FSU is that good or because Maryland's really that bad?

It was a combination of both FSU being good and MD being bad, but nowhere to the extreme that the score would suggest. MD was hanging in down 7-0 midway through the second quarter when they lost CJ Brown on an extremely illegal hit that somehow went unpenalized. Soon after Diggs went down too, and without them moving the ball or holding onto it for any length of time, FSU just started to tee off. Not to mention MD still is down its top two corners.

a dirty hit. FSU still would've rolled, but it probably would've been more like 42-14 than 63-0.

Let's look at maryland's quality win

First half minus defensive Touchdowns.
24-0 and 3 turnovers not immediately returned for TDs
Against Baylor with a better starting QB 59-7 minus WVU's defensive touchdown. Looks baylor's defense might be just as good as Maryland's. Maybe better if you consider the length of time they spend on the field and WVU's upgrade at QB in trickett.

No, I'm not joking.
Unlike Clemson (21-0 at the end of the first quarter), it was a tight first half. FSU scored in the last minute of the first half to go up 21-0. It was only in the second half that they pounded Maryland.
So Maryland competed for a half.

That is absolutely correct. With the score 14-0 and about 6 minutes to go in the half, I felt the half would likely end 14-0 or 14-7. Maryland has a good football team. Saragin has them 33rd after the loss, which is 5th in the ACC.

but FSU deserves full respect. They could be the best team in the country and nobody knows it.
