Not saying it's time, but the Monday presser followed by this turd sandwich is a bad look.

After thinking on it… I think the presser was very intentional. He knew what this team was capable of and he wanted to get this out-of-the-way before another #### storm. Imagine him saying that now after this game.
Think about it… Everything he said in that presser was positive. The reality is is there are plenty of other things that need improvement and could’ve easily been spoken of. The fact that he did not get a contract extension speaks volumes. I just think Neff is buying time here. He probably thinks having a basketball ops center approved will attract a higher caliber coach.… As well as lower the buyout.

I think this is pretty close. The big mistake would be an extension. Next year will be a little tough to sit through especially when they lose to a couple teams of bums and miss the tourney. But there is a chance Brad figures it out (hah).
I think some of the frustration is due to Neff’s success at a job he’s been in for a short time. He seemed to do well with the baseball hire, and apparently aced the women’s lax hire. Not sure those had much DRad involvement or not, but I assume they are Neff’s. If we have an AD that makes good hires, that’s huge. And I think that’s what making us think Neff could improve on Brad.
Neff is doing things (some we’re not as happy about like Parking Lot 5), and I think we should be relieved as we could have been saddled with a caretaker whose only goal is don’t anger Dabo.

The Brownell situation alone draws some deserved scrutiny. But him as an AD is measured from all sports. Don’t know exactly how Bakich will turn out, looks better recently, but that hire could have been bad.
The whole ACC Grant of Rights thing is under his lead and the Board of Trustees I imagine.
All scrutiny towards Neff is outside opinion without knowledge of behind the scenes. But on the surface, yeah he needs to get some things straight.

Just let him sit in it for awhile. He doesn’t want to make hard decisions. That’s no fun. Plus, Brad is a pal of his.

So your argument is: he doesn't want to make hard decisions and puts his friends' interests above his own. But he really wanted to be A.D. so we should let him?

months. One of which was Monte who coached a sport that many Clemson fans care about even more than basketball. Whether you agree with him or not I believe he’s doing what he thinks is right not what he thinks is easy. I like the guy and think he’s gonna prove to be one of the best ADs we’ve had.

He’s made one decision you don’t like; go ahead tell us what are the other fireable offenses other than the unforgivable mistake of being too young? We don’t know what the dialogue has been like with Brownell; I believe he’s probably got really specific expectations for next year which will come with rewards/repurcussions. Neff hasn’t been the AD, or even at Clemson, for 13 years he didn’t set Brownell’s expectations in those years. He doesn’t have the luxury of ranting and raving on a message board or in the press. I think he really does believe in the coach, but also he has to manage the relationships with the people who grease the gears at Clemson. By all accounts Brownell has the support of our large donors. He has to carefully set expectations and give the Brownell the chance to see what he can do with the funding that these people are giving to the school. If he fails with the increased resources then Neff has the cover to let him go.
