Seriously though... Duke dwarfed this team. Albeit, they have a large number of upperclassmen. They appeared bigger faster and stronger in all phases. The seems to have become the norm as of late.

Something changed in conditioning a few years back. I have no idea what it was but it is obvious that something is markedly different in the number of injuries, the obvious poor conditioning of the players and all that goes with that. It was so obvious on the closeup TV shots Monday night that Duke players seemed raring to go and looked like they just walked out of a photo shoot, hardly physically stressed at all while the Clemson players were all perspiring profusely and seemed exhausted right after warmups. We use to sit in the stands at home games and talk about how many players from opposing teams had to be helped off the field during those hot early season games and seldom was a Clemson player subject to cramps, etc. Not the case anymore.

this team. Those guys were ready made giants before they got here. The were pro's as Freshman. Thats the difference. You can't upgrade much from 6-5 340 and running a 5.0. Those two by themselves could have secured our defensive front. Its about recruiting those type of guys that fixes your strength and conditioning concerns.

Incorrect TP and P-WOO say hi. The problem is again not playing the best player and the fear that these kids will walk if you don't play them. Its tough because "college" football is a shat show, however if you do not get in line and become a part of the shat show you become a shat show yourself.

Peter Woods has one game under his belt and we'll wait and see. But the evidence is there are no plugged holes since those guys left. It was virtually IMPOSSIBLE to run up the middle when DEx and CW were playing. Bama had Scarborough and Derrick Henry and they both had to bump it outside to run. HAving that ability to take away another teams options b/c of two players makes everybody else's job really easy.
I like TD and PW but apples to oranges.

Either you have never played or coached football or it’s a reaction post. Dukes line was weaker, smaller and less talented period.
We made the mistakes that cost the game not the trenches or the stats reflect that!

Batson seems like a great guy but I wouldn't mind seeing a new infusion of youth in the weight room.
Surely there is a young Scott Cochran type out there ready to motivate the boys. Any chance at getting Deuce Gruden.
Maybe a package deal with the President of the Fired Football Coaches of America as an offensive analyst. Teach us how to run Spider 2 Y Banana.

Bs aside you are right. Its time to overhaul s&c for football at the least. It seems like this team is always pushed around, guys dont get faster/more explosive by the time they leave, and the players are frequently injury riddled.
This has been the one area unchanged for 12 years.

I honestly thought they had back when Bowden was coaching.
Those things you all have listed I've noticed too. There is no excuse for Clemson not being the best conditioned athletes on the field.
