While Lebron is a great player, and transcendent talent for this generation of basketball I just don't know how well he'd fair back in the 90's with the " hand check " system and other defensive measures in place. This is a " no touch " the shooter league. While Lebron is a great player and will go down as one, MJ was more than a transcendent talent, He was the face of the NBA for his entire NBA career, after slow start.

Never the less, MJ was innovative, not as muscular and still played and won in a defensive heavy era. I just don't know how many of any of these players would be able to stop Jordan in his day. That is why he was nicknamed " Air Jordan " because he would take flight over defenders 6 inches taller than him. He was smooth as silk, his footwork was second to none, and played against some of the established all time great players like Johnson, Bird, Wilkins, players that transformed the game, but none like Mike did. so yea, it's not anywhere time to put any comparisons to MJ right now. Sure he has scored the highest points in playoff's, but how many rings you say?

The Bad Boy Pistons would have put Lebron on a stretcher

Jun 8, 2017, 8:05 AM

He definitely wouldn't be making 7 consecutive final's appearances back in the 90s. Both conferences had too many talented players on multipule teams.

wonder how lebron would handle the pIstons and bill laimbeer

Who are you referring to when you say

"AAU Hero Ball?" Because if that's a style of basketball that you think LeBron plays, then you're obviously not paying attention.

Yeah. If anything, Lebron should shoot more when

he drives. Sometimes he passes too much.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I agree, when he gets into the lane he needs to finish

Jun 8, 2017, 9:42 AM

although even for LeBron, when you're looking at KD with good position in front of you it gets exponentially more difficult. But he's a facilitator and last night it was obvious he wanted Love and Smith to start hitting shots. I would normally say the 4th quarter should be LeBron and Kyrie in iso every possession, but the Warriors are just too good defensively to let that beat them.

The comparison should be more like Lebron vs Magic.

Jun 8, 2017, 3:48 AM

Maybe Lebron vs Kobe. Michael Jordan is by himself on top with no close 2nd.

To me with measureables the comparison would more like that to Magic Johnson . I know Magic didn't throw the dunks down like James and I haven't seen enough of LeBron's games to make a take on his passing skills, which I doubt they are in Magic's level but size and position are definitely of Magic's sort.

Jun 8, 2017, 8:56 AM [ in reply to The comparison should be more like Lebron vs Magic. ]

Not true. MJ is one of the best but it is unfair to compare different times, different rules, different competition and different NBA/TV promotions. Bill Russell was every bit as good as MJ, if not better. MJ had tremendous talent surrounding him. I quit watching the NBA when the league decided to make the sport an individual game with MJ and not a team game. It was all about MJ and not the team sport. That's why it is all about Lebron now. Detroit stopped MJ when the league let them stop him. Now it is no defense and all about scoring and individuals - at least Golden State has several individuals.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Bill Russell wasn't even the ballpark close to MJ.

Jun 8, 2017, 9:07 AM

Most of the people he played against wouldn't even make an NBA roster today. Moreover, they were way shorter back then. Russell isn't even considered a top 5 all time player. He is just a winner.

Baseball was better when pitchers threw 600+ innings

a year. These modern day pitchers are a bunch of p***ies. For that matter, football was better when players didn't wear helmets. I hate hearing these modern day wimps complain about stupid crap like their brains.

Things were so much better back in my day in the teens and 20s. They've ruined all of these sports over the last century.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If you quit watching back in the 1990's then how can you

Jun 8, 2017, 9:49 AM [ in reply to Re: The comparison should be more like Lebron vs Magic. ]

say the NBA today is "no defense and all about scoring and individuals?" The Warriors play very good defense and they don't play as individuals, they are completely team-oriented. LeBron is selfless, almost to a fault as he works hard to get his entire team involved on offense.

i would agree

the warriors play excellent team d and are extremely unselfish. lbj gets everyone involved. and san antonio is the very definition of team ball

The NBA as a whole is trending in that direction though.

Russ and Harden are the exceptions now, not the rule.

Jun 8, 2017, 7:28 AM

It's just too hard to compare the two. Different styles and different times. But this year the cavs are laying down in Lebron. GS is dominating because they have the better team, As did MK all those years. LBJ is definitely the best player in the world at this time. His team is just too hot and cold.

LeBron James is the best athlete to play in the NBA.

Bill Russell is the greatest winner to play in the NBA.

Wilt Chamberlain is the most dominant player to play in the NBA.

Michael Jordan is the best NBA player of all time.
