The ACC is so bad right now, we may have to go undefeated to

get into the CFB playoffs... I genuinely don't think we can absorb a loss to a Syracuse or Pitt this year and still stay in the top 4.
FSU is hot garbage.
Louisville is a motorcycle crash.
Pitt got spanked by PSU a couple of weeks ago.
GT lost to USF.
UNC lost to ECU a few weeks ago.
Miami was beatdown by LSU opening weekend.
BC, who was somehow ranked, was destroyed by Purdue today.
And VT just lost to Old Dominion. Old. Dominion. They've only had a football team for 9 years and were 0-3 coming in with losses to Liberty, FIU, and Charlotte. Seriously.
I mean, it's like everyone is trying to suck on purpose. That's the only explanation. John Swofford is making them suck to stick it to the Tigers.
Duke is the second best team in the conference.

If our Clemson Tigers can't run the table with the games on our schedule, we don't deserve to be in the playoffs. Normally an undefeated season is just ridiculously hard to do, but normally Clemson has a few very challenging teams on the schedule. The ACC is the absolute worst I have seen them be in years. Did one of our top teams get manhandled to give Old Dominion their first win of the year by hanging almost half a hundred on them? Really? That was beyond embarrassing...it was pathetic.

Yes and no. The ACC is terrible, yes, but so much depends on who else is in contention and how many & who their loss(es) are to. It’s just too hard to predict right now- it’s too early in the season. With that said, the conference certainly isn’t doing us any favors. Our SOS will be weak come season’s end.

We won't have to go undefeated

- Our loss last year was to Syracuse team was 7th game of the season, and Syracuse didn't win another game the rest of the season to finish 4-8. I will admit, it helped us that KB getting hurt, and the fact it happened on the road. We were not punished for that loss.
- Our loss to Pitt in 2016, was at home, and the 10th game of the season. Again, not punished very much.
I think we have built some credit and people know we could be blowing teams out, but are choosing to play 2nd and 3rd string early in games.
I don't think we have to worry, unless there are 4-5 undefeated teams, and, as long as the loss isn't in the ACC Championship.
Oh, but I agree, the ACC is a big steaming pile of hot garbage. Duke, Syracuse and BC all need keep winning, except for when they play us. That will help our SOS.

We have had a high ranked schedule strength

the last few years with good FSU and Louisville teams, ND, Auburn, etc. That’s all changed this year. Our schedule strength is way off. We are not likely to survive a loss with this schedule. We will play a discredited nobody in the ACCCG as well.

It's always possible that we have built enough credibility to get in with a loss, but the ACC isn't doing us any favors. Win out... and you don't have to leave it in the hands of the committee.

but if we lose 1 I think we are out. Especially if ND ends with no more than 1 loss.
