C&P from May 8th ABC News article:

Justice Sonia Sotomayor says lawyers should stand up and fight amid turmoil in nation's legal system

By Lindsay Whitehurst - Associated Press

WASHINGTON -- Justice Sonia Sotomayor said Thursday that lawyers should stand up and fight in battles faced by the nation’s legal system, comments that come amid attacks on federal judges and President Donald Trump’s targeting of elite law firms in executive orders.

“Our job is to stand up for people who can’t do it themselves. And our job is to be the champion of lost causes,” she said. "But right now, we can’t lose the battles we are facing. And we need trained and passionate and committed lawyers to fight this fight.”

xxxxxxxx

(?). Where is any reference to the sworn promise to protect the Constitution? No where in the Constitution is any reference that SCOTUS justices have a duty to be activist advocates re “… our job is to be the champion of lost causes,”

(?). And what’s with her “we” reference as she addresses an ABA (American Bar Assiciation) audience? Sotomayor is acknowledging her bias for non-Constitutional rulings as well as believing that the ABA is aligned with her in this.

We knew that Sotomayor is dim-witted. Now, there is no longer any doubt as to her disdain for the Constitution.

Oh, are you pretending that you have respect for the Constitution now?

How many times do you shift this stance in a given day? Just an hour ago, you said an American citizen can be detained and questioned, and potentially barred from returning to the country, if he says something you don't like. And you still didn't explain what you meant by your description of him as "a foreigner". Feel free to elaborate here, or continue to duck.

One day, if you can ever tone down the volume on your self-propagandizing bullhorn, you should give it a shot and read The Constitution.

(?). Was it an American citizen that was refused entry back into America?

Regardless of your answer to the above, did he get sent back to some other country? If the answer is “no,” then The Constitution was not violated.

Is The Constitution being trampled if a person desiring to enter the US gets questioned by government officers? The answer is “no.”

Why is an American citizen being detained and questioned for hours

about political views and opinions of the President? Your nonchalance is so transparent and disingenuous because we both know you'd lose your everloving mind if the Biden admin did the same to an American citizen. You guys are such frauds, carefully crafted personas wrapped in patriotism and Constitutionalism and respect-the-troops-and-cops and MURICA, and when we finally pull the cover back...it turns out, you don't care about any of that stuff. You just want an authoritarian who answers to no one, as long as he shares your view of what America should look like and think like.

He didn't deserve First Amendment protection because you incorrectly assumed he wasn't a citizen.

But that's where you fail. The BoR makes it clear that those protections are for all human beings; the inalienable rights as mentioned in the Declaration.

For you to comment otherwise shows you think a human is only worthy of protection for oppression and persecution if he or she is an American. Not only does that make you a bad American; it makes you a bad person.

well it's dumb, but it's getting hard to delineate what is more dumb these days.

I'm assuming the subject/headline was yours?

Where in the heck did you get that out of the comments you C&P'd. She's saying lawyers need to fight back against the unconstitutional actions of the admin. It goes without saying.

You gotta get a grip man.

Pointed out that Biden's tuition move was unconstitutional, correctly so, as well as his unconstitutional EO threat of fining businesses over COVID vaccines, but how you blindly support each and every EO overreach that Trump signs?

You argue for disobeying the Constitution by our executive branch every day and want rights stripped of Americans. She didn't say anything un-Constitutional, and you're going to sit here and pretend you respect that document?

You just got done trying to claim freedom of speech isn't guaranteed to everyone in our nation... in a thread about a citizen.

just run around in TikTok in your red MAGA underwear hootin’ and hollerin’ out your DTS slogans. We get it, you’re a fan of this administration, which makes you anti-constitution. Never the tween shall meet, so don’t even pretend like you give a crap about it. And to refer to Sotomayor as dim-witted …ummm, she’d run circles around your bs degree and beat you over the head with her Princeton and Yale diplomas.

If you’re gonna act a fool, then do it better.
