Does anyone like this? Expansion in the hill area
Sep 2, 2013, 10:12 PM

It's from Clemson Diehards on Facebook:
Let me be clear, I don't like the expansion and am NOT supporting it. It can't be something that is really on the agenda at Clemson--I hope it isn't.

I think we're good with 83,000. The UGA is the first game in a very long time that we've filled the corners. Most games those seats are empty.

yes. i have been to every game in the past 5 years, and this is the first to actually be a complete sell-out where every space was filled. do that for 2 or 3 seasons, then we can start expanding onto the west endzone. the view of tillman, fike and campus are part of what makes death valley so beautiful.

With costs climbing, expansion will not happen

anytime soon. It took Clemson and another top 10 team playing for the stadium to actually be packed for the first time in MANY years. Even the USC games are not totally packed. They way ticket prices are climbing, they will just make the tickets more expensive rather than expand.

We don't really lose much. They need to keep an eye on the acoustics though. The sound from the PA system already echos off of the West Endzone stands.

It could work if...

The majority of the left side is used to make room for a larger band, and the right side is added seating for students. I don't think expansion in that area would do very well otherwise. As others have already said the game Saturday was the first time in a while the corners of the upper deck have been completely full. Imagine if we could increase the size of the band and put them in that left side though. They would be louder, more visible, and no more piped in sound!

We old Tigers usually don't like change.

I would go along with adding 20K more seats if we remain in the top ten for 5 or 6 years.
I'd like to see Clemson fill a 125K stadium but before we pay for a feasibility study and have a design submission from architects we really need several years of selling and filling all the seats.

I do and I would go even further with the expansion

I would build another East End like the West End and have private booths connecting the from the bottom of the upper decks on both sides.
Leave the middle part of the hill and bring the rock down the hill about 20 feet to allow more players to stand at the top of the hill to be seen before they come down.
We can only see about 10 or 12 players now and none of them do anything hardly but stand there. We need another Woody who would get in front and shadow box and get excited before coming down
Clemson could add many Big Dollar private booths and in today world it's all about bringing in money to stay on top of the college football world.

I like that the players are not half way down the hill like they used to be a few years back.
The rock is fine exactly where it is at.

If we ever had an expansion, that's where I would like them to. I think it would look great for those corners to be up to the same level as the north and south stands. Could also expand the wheelchair seating and have more student seating in the lower.

Everyone knows the old saying about supply and demand:

let the Tigers keep winning, toss in some ACC Championships, even playing for a national title or two, and demand for DV tickets will skyrocket.
If that type demand persists for several years, then DV will be expanded. I'm no engineer nor an architect, but they'll do it by reconstructing the WEZ into a bowl or enclosing the EEZ with the hill becoming a tunnel.
Should the latter occur, there will be an uproar from old timers wanting the hill left alone; however, the demand will outweigh the "anti" crowd. Some of us may not live long enough to see it, but one day, DV will have over 125,000 h3ll-raising Tiger fans cheering on the team!

Plus, as mentioned by others, we don't need to expand right now.
