That big hit only happened because the outfielder tried to make a play that he couldn’t make. If he played that on a hop then that’s a routine base hit and at most one run would’ve scored

He may not, but he should be able to coach hitters not to take a close pitch on a 3-2 count or yo quit swinging at pitches that are ankle high and tailing away. Good hitting teams just don’t often make those mistakes.

I get what you’re saying but players at this level know the things you mentioned. Things look a lot different in that batter box than they do on the tv screen. Say to yourself “one thousand one”. Now divide that by almost 1/3 and that’s how much time you have to determine location and get the bat to the hitting zone. I’ve been in that box hitting pitching at this level. It’s not softball.

He most surely does , what are we paying him for ? A season long slump? Poor plate approach ? Regression from a former big ten hitter that hit over 300 last year ? He is with them everyday and changes to plate approach should have been made months ago.

It is always the coach. We gave up 15 hits and could not get the big out when we needed it.

Then he needs to replace himself and do another job. Like learnings when to replace a pitcher and when to leave him in.

I'm happy with our coaching but th on area they have not killed it in is recruiting. We need more dudes. That simple.
