Venables pleased with Wednesday's scrimmage. Or was he?
Brent Venables is hard to read at times, and it was hard to tell if he was pleased or miffed following Wednesday’s scrimmage inside of Memorial Stadium. According to many observers the defense held the upper hand as the offense made a slew of mistakes, but Venables wouldn’t commit to saying one way or the other. Full Story » |

Was that a compliment on his defense?

I can see BV after dinner. "Yes the meal was very good. Other than it being a bit bland, cold and the same as 2 nights ago you did some great work in the kitchen."

I love reading BVs assessments. Much better than Bowdens or even Morris'. I just thought it was funny how he starts off all the comments with something like "really good" or "great" and then proceeds to talk about all the faults.
I'd love to hear his off the record assessments of some of the defensive talent. He's probably just absolutely giddy. You never hear of them talking about talent now, its all the little things that make teams great.

Lol. On point. Out of any Brent Venables interview, there's two things you should never expect - a litany of details and compliments.

I think that those shirts, sweats, and caps are the free logo gear that Nike gives to the coaching staff at the schools they do business with, bc they are always hard to find in retail exactly like the ones the coaches wear....

That was an odd thing to say. 'Recruited' would make more sense. Dang, need to take back one of the stars I rated this story - come on journalists, you go to school for 6 or 7 years (based on personal collegiate experience) to earn that 4 year degree, and then you screw up the words?!
Bottom Line: love these Tigers and love these coaches!!

Anybody else picture Venables as a mad scientist when you read this? Is he building players in his lab now?
