LoungeDads GITT before I burn my house down

I'll try not to aero this post to hell and back, but forewarning I'm all tweaked up and looking for the proper flame thrower to address this situation......
I went in to wake my toddler up this morning, and she had bug bites on her face. No biggie right?
Wrong.
The bug bites were 4 bug bites in a damnear perfect line.
What's the big deal?
Sidebar story time (flashback): One time, my wife and I rented an AirBNB during Peak Covid down at the beach (Amelia Island) for a month. Pet friendly (#neveragain). We were there for a few days when all of a sudden I started getting these randomass bug bites all over me. I was thinking wut dee eff right?
Finally, I got good and stoned, and said to my wife, omg I wonder if these are bed bugs. Ripped the room apart that we were sleeping in, no signs. Ripped the other BR apart where I was using as a temporary office........bed bugs everywhere.
Back to today: Given that experience, I'm wiggindafuq out that we have bed bugs in my house. Already ripped my toddler's room to shreds, no signs. I've ordered some traps. My dad told me to calm down but I'm all like
It's time for:
So ..... question for my LoungeDadBros - in full anticipation of the usuals being the usuals - can these be anything other than bed bugs? Could they be skeeters or gnats? I just don't get how the bites are in a near perfect line, which has got me wigged out.
Talk me off the ledge. Or push. Either way, we making moves today.

Fleas are a PITA to get rid of but easier than bedbugs, although luckily we’ve never had those

dog is not scratching anywhere, and he's on whatever flea treatment he's sposed to be on. he's never had fleas. would that be inidicator #1?
my wife said the other kids at daycare had bug bites on their face....
I laughed, and said so either A- it's skeeters / something outside or B- someone at daycare brought bed bugs and now everyone has it

They are attracted to the CO2 that we breathe out, so don't try moving rooms as they will find you and infest another room. The best way to keep them in one place is to use Diatomaceous Earth - spread it around the perimeter of the room where you know they are. If they cross the line - they will die.
Good luck because they suck. We had them years ago and got a specialist to come in and get rid of them. The guy told us we had a 0.5/10 infestation.

solid crib, all the baby crap too so kinda waterproof and what not.
metal frame / springs, attached to wooden crib frame...so no box springs.
I'm going to do traps, DE the perimeter, and spray the carpet areas around her crib, chair and dresser me thinks just for good measure.
maybe an over-kill just-in-case but fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck bed bugs

How poor is your daycare that some of the kids have bedbugs?
Sep 8, 2023, 10:33 AM

I thought this was a poverty problem? I honest to god have never had or known anyone who had bed bugs. Maybe my grandparents did in the Great Depression or something, I dunno.

For 2 kids poor?
It's associated with my wife's work, so it should weed out the poors, outside of price.
Idk man - we got em in an Airbnb. But we caught it there, and threw all luggage away and nuked all clothes in a professional laundromat for heat.
Maybe a family picked em up on vacation over labor day and they traveled with the toddlers back pack.

But I just ripped everything apart, sprayed it down, spread DE, etc. Zero signs of em
And don't assume man, you can pick em up in the airport. Once you get em you get scarred haha. I checked my hotel beds for a solid year and some change after our air BNB episode

Was it brown, shiny, painful bite?
If so, it could be a bat weevil. What was it's mood? Did it seem sleepy? After it bit her did it run away fearful or did it walk away smug, self-assured?
If smug, that's a bed bug. Everything's a joke.

could be where the edge of the sheet or a gap in jammer top and bottom was and a mosquito worked it's way along the exposed bit?
Probably not but trying to give you some hope.

a tube of permethryn lotion is like $100 per dose.... and sometimes it takes multiple doses... for each member of your house.
A huge jug of permethryn10 from tractor supply to treat livestock is maybe $20. Mix it at the appropriate ration in with some jerkins lotion and you've just saved a boatload.
Worked like a champ when we somehow ended up with scabies about 10 years ago.
I was on the verge of locking the doors of the house, with us inside and burning it to the ground. Horrible. Not sure where those bastages came from, but I hope to God it never happens again.
Not sure if this stuff works on bed bugs.

Wife done brought back the bed bugs from work trip to Chicago.

Four star major hotel chain. Was a horrible experience getting rid of them as they migrated to multiple floors in the house. Fortunately she didnt bring back any 🦀 crabs.
As for you, I do hope that you have something less invasive…like fleas or in laws.

My wife travels out of town for work some
Sep 8, 2023, 1:37 PM

I've drilled into her head to keep her luggage in the bathroom. Not that it will keep the bedbugs from moving in, but it does lessen the chances.
Last time she went out of town she only brought back covid, so that was nice.
