So much for tires protecting you
Obviously knocked out the electrics
Bolt went through the car and hit the ground? That had to kill or cause major injuries right? - edit - saw they were ok Faraday cage effect not tires Could explain why the tires didn’t protect.
So much for it hitting the highest point - there was a tree right there.
Somebody obviously pissed off the Big Guy Upstairs

But, and hear me out, the chances of lightening striking you

is really low. Now that you have witnessed a strike of the people in front of you, the chances you are struck are probably infinitely lower. So for the rest of their lives, they can run through fields naked during lightening storms holding metal poles and most likely not have to worry about God smiting them from above.

Not so fast Mike Honcho

Once a person has been struck by lightning, they are substantially more like to be struck by lightning again than another person for the first time. One could assume that witnessing a lightning strike at this range has also increased the witnesses odds of being struck by lightning prior to this event.

Lighting hits flat ground all the time. Have seen it hit an airport runway and a highway with taller metal structures all around. Have seen it strike the OCEAN (can't get flatter than that).
Had lighting hit a light pole right beside me when I was stopped at a stop sign in my car one time. Transformer exploded and threw burning oil all over my car. That was pretty trippy to have flaming oil engulf me all around. It was raining so hard I suppose it got extinguished/washed away before it did any damage.
This has happened to me twice. The other time I was on a tractor pulling a bush hog on a golf course and it hit a tree within 10 yards of me. Couldn't hear out of one ear for a week. The cool thing - if there is a cool thing about it - is that I KNEW I was getting ready to be struck, even though it was just a split second, it seemed longer. All my hair stood up, skin tingled, massive static electricity field.
Not pleasant to be in point-blank lightning range.

when I was a teenager playing golf. I was on the tee box and the hair on the back of my neck stood on end and my skin tingled immediately before the sky exploded up on the green. Talk about doing the Richard Pryor low running back to the clubhouse.
