How much COVID hurt Clemson. Those guys used the extra years to play (not pro type players), but ok college players. So, the recruited talent went elsewhere or transferred out, rather than wait to play. Our offense scoring enough points to put in the backups didn’t happen, so depth wasn’t developed, no playing time was established and the transfer portal looked like their only option and some guys took it. I can’t blame them. Workouts, sprints and conditioning to not see the field for many snaps is a tough pill to swallow for these high school stars. Dabo talks highly of these guys, but they don’t see the field. I totally get it. The freshman class has some dogs, especially on defense. Hopefully, C Riley can do the same with the offense in the next couple of classes. Just don’t wait to long to get them in the game or they will hit the portal too
Go Tigers!

I mentioned this after one of our losses, FSU I think.
Part of the problem was recruiting as well. Dabo's recruiting power is getting the studs on campus to see the Hills. During Covid, he lost that advantage and we didn't get guys on the top of our board. Those top recruits need to get on campus if we want some 5* guys. Just look at this year with Brown, Wesco.
Plus we need to show we can be explosive on Offense again. Good players want to score.

It also coincided with NIL where Dabo says he will see players get paid but he's not paying or guaranteeing money to recruits.

Clemson sells Clemson when they get here. No recruits could come in.
The staff and the school sell it. None of that happened. I think it affected Clemson moreso than other.big programs

Every team in the country dealt with COVID..........not just Clemson.
also, per your claim.......it's also odd that it affected the offensive recruiting and not defensive...?....?....
add up the years experience on the D asst coaches compared to the O asst coaches, that's part of the problem.

It's a combination of post covid recruiting, staff changes, NIL, extra eligibility, injuries and transfers as well as turnovers. A perfect storm if you will since 2020-2021.
The endgame is in the California courts now. The NCAA and Power 5 conferences are in a class action lawsuit seeking $1.4 Billion which if won would be treble damages of $4.2 Billion. Amateurism is no longer valid due to NIL. The athletes and their attorneys are looking for a pro sports business model with revenue sharing, healthcare Trust, education and an employee union for negotiating, etc. Title 9 will apply too. But the same Congress that has $33 trillion in debt is being asked to help by the NCAA. LOL
I am not sure college sports fans get this new world order!
