Polling runners/walkers on the board.

Just took Moses on his daily 3 miler in the neighborhood. Having a good one too until a white Camry decided that my life was worth less than her believing I should have been across the street on the sidewalk. I usually don't look up when I'm on the move, but felt something was off so did and quickly jumped into the yard I was next to. Some old lady ranting and pointing at the sidewalk on the opposite side as she rolled by.
So question for you fellers, I've always understood that on a two way road in SC that the left shoulder against traffic was right of way. Could it be I'm wrong and shouldn't set her yard on fire?

I don’t quite understand your scenario, but I don’t run on sidewalks. Too many trip hazards.

After enough years, it doesn't matter what surface you run on. It all hurts. My knees will only tolerate the treadmill nowadays. I don't think there is a right of way rule, but just a safety recommendation to run against traffic rather than with it. Sorry you got yelled at, but I am guilty of yelling (or at least glaring) at the bikers who think they own the road, and they actually do have a legal right to be out in traffic along with 2 ton vehicles and nothing but their racing outfit and a superior attitude to protect them.

I think you are correct. Walk against traffic, ride with traffic. I think setting her yard afire is the appropriate response. Measured, but gets the point across.

I regularly see a grumpy guy who often wears Gamecock shirts walking in the road rather than on the sidewalk. He does walk against traffic, but typically at night. I used to wave, but he glares right at me and never waves back.
I often think about running into him, just to teach him a lesson. I think about this because he’s a Coot, and also because he’s a jerk. But more than anything, I want to do it because he chooses to walk in the road when the sidewalk is literally three feet from him.
Walking is supposed to be against traffic, rather than with traffic. But if there is a sidewalk, I believe walkers are supposed to use it. If not, they should.
Sorry you almost got hit though. Are you and your dog okay?

But he is putting himself at risk by walking in the road when he would be much safer on the sidewalk.

but to answer your question, there is a sidewalk in our neighborhood only one side so at entrance, it's on the left side. I walk in the street going the opposite direction, but I maintain a path right at the curb. This nut had a wheel pointed at us.
Funny you mention the dirtpecker, lol, one of the two possible houses she lives in has a Cock-flag, 😂

Don't burn her yard. It'll come back. Sneak over and squirt some RoundUp on it. You'll enjoy the anticipation of what's going to happen.
Not that I would ever advocate such action...but a Road Hog is a Road Hog.

You could get a sprayer and spell something out in her yard with Round Up.

You’re right and Karen was wrong. Good thing for you and Moses that you have a sixth sense. My son had to pull me out of the way of some numbskull who cut a corner across the grass in a yard behind the ESSO last night after the game going way too fast. Close to making my kids orphans. A kid walking behind me who I don’t know threw a perfect fastball with a full beer can and broke the idiot’s back window as he sped off.

A little over a year ago I was hit by a car while riding my bicycle. I'm truly lucky to be alive. What was the problem? She was watching the phone while driving, and this was in a small town on Sunday afternoon.
My conclusion is that it's become unsafe to be around traffic.
As for revenge. Use roundup to make a large swastika in her front yard. This won't be overlooked.

I always run the on the left side of the road near the curb. Want to see who will try to run me over so I have a chance to get out of the way as opposed to being hit from behind.

Technically, pedestrians always have the right of way.
However, here is the law in the State of South Carolina:
Pedestrians have complete right-of-way on the sidewalk. If there are no sidewalks, pedestrians should travel on the shoulder of the road. If there is no shoulder or sidewalk, pedestrians must then walk on the far-left side of the road.

I’d suggest running on the sidewalk. Shoulder of road has too many unseen hazards. Sidewalk is there for a reason to keep people out of the road. If you are in a rural area with no sidewalk there is a danger of stepping in a hole or on a rock and accidentally stumbling in front of a vehicle. Had this happen to me once when a young lady fell in road right in front of me. In the neighborhood with no sidewalks just be careful. Move over to the valley gutter when a car approaches. Don’t be that hard headed guy who stays in the middle of the lane and expect the oncoming vehicle to move over for you. We have a bunch of Karen’s in our neighborhood and walk four wide down the lane and expect you to move over for them. Invariably this happens when meeting another vehicle and you have to stop completely. When this happens protocol is to wait until the get right on you and LAY DOWN ON THE HORN
My best advice is to WEAR BRIGHT CLOTHES
We have people who walk/run at night and wear black clothes. Pretty stupid. Something reflective is good
Y’all stay safe out Tharrr

Here's the SC law on pedestrians
SECTION 56-5-3160. Pedestrians on highways.
(a) Where a sidewalk is provided and its use is practicable, it shall be unlawful for any pedestrian to walk along and upon an adjacent roadway.
(b) Where a sidewalk is not available any pedestrian walking along and upon a highway shall walk only on a shoulder as far as practicable from the edge of the roadway.
(c) Where neither a sidewalk nor a shoulder is available, any pedestrian walking along and upon a highway shall walk as near as practicable to an outside edge of the roadway and, if on a two-way roadway, shall walk only on the left side of the roadway.
(d) Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, any pedestrian upon a roadway shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles upon the roadway.

Be careful out there BloodbeOrange® … when you’re hit, it won’t make any difference who was in the right. You’ll be the handicapped party and maybe for life. This is the reason why I do not ride motorbikes on the open road. Too many unobservant drivers.
