Yes, BB has 201 wins while at Clemson, but also 150 losses.
Oliver Purnell 138-88. Rick Barnes 74-48. Cliff Ellis 175-127.
So BB has more losses than any coach in CU history.

in Clemson history really isn't saying much given our dismal overall level of success over the years. Yes, we've had some excellent seasons here and there but never anything long-term or consistently successful. That's reality.

Your statement is correct which makes it so mind blowing that we have some fans who think we can hire a coach within our budget who will come in and make us a top 20 team plus be willing to stay at Clemson long term.

a coach who can really recruit, prepare the players, and coach well in games we'll keep plodding along as we have been all these past decades.
There's a lot of truth, obviously, to Clemson being a football school. But until a REAL commitment is made to basketball, nothing will noticeably change.
Other schools have successful programs in both sports - we can too if the administration/BOT make the real decision to.

Which schools?
I can't think of one blue-blood BB program that is also a Blue-blood football program.
The most success a school has had would be Florida but they were both splash coaches (Liar and Donovan) -neither built and maintained a "program". Both kinda just road out some HOF talent and then departed after that went in a .500 season. Maybe UCLA did it when they were kings out west.
Then you have had Ohio State, Wisconsin and Michigan BOTH have decent years in both programs but 31-0hio and Khakigan have not really been major powers in both sports art the same time. Texas has snuck into that realm back with both Macky and Ricky. Very good, yes, but let me know how many Natties Wisconsin has been claiming.
Also, when you look at the costs that the athletic department can afford, you better be the main/only P5 school in a bigger state without a lot of in-state competition to get it done. That leaves: 31-0hio State, Tennessee, (formally UVA lol), UCONN - although not a big state), Rutgers, Arkansas, Mizzou, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota.... am I missing anything.
Most of the time, a school picks one sport to be good at and wastes the others. Tennessee tries and often fails at both. Some schools pick neither like NC State or Maryland... but part of that was forced upon them. Others like Vandy pick baseball. Other schools like the coots pick wimminz horse activities. Because a horse isn't technically their brother so and that is what the judge ordered.
Basketball "Powers" that lolz the football: Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, UNC, Cuse, Arizona, Villanova (D2 but good).
Football "powers" that play BB with bricks (to build the football stadium). Us, Bama, Auburnt, ND, Texas, Ped State, USC, LSU, often 31-0, Miami, etc

This is a stupid argument. Alabama is not a traditional basketball school. They're excellent. Loyola Chicago is ripping teams apart right now. A team's success in the past has little bearing on their chances in the future. Clemson is not a traditional football powerhouse either, and definitely not a blueblood. It may or may not have been a top 25 program historically when Dabo took over. Now it's a program undisputedly in the top 3. You say Clemson might not be able to keep a successful coach long-term. Even assuming that to be true (which I don't necessarily agree with), so what? Just keep a terrible coach because you're afraid a top coach will make us good and then leave?
The fact that you're willing to settle for such mediocrity just because Clemson hasn't had a ton of success historically, tells me all I need to know about your character.

They have had one good year with a HOT coach (BTW, I wanted Clemson to hire Oats after the Yale loss in 2018). Oats is good not that Alabama is having much success.
Otherwise, Alabama holds a winning record over most other SEC schools - only losing more to Kentucky and Arky. They are a better than the norm for an SEC school... just not a power. An 'ok" team in a bad conference.
Otherwise they have had just as many elite eight finishes as we have had. One.
Even with Newton and his three SEC titles, they never did anything other than being good when Kentucky was bad (Think of the NC State football titles in the 70s - they just had a few decent years when the league was down)
Their own best recent coach Mark Gottfried eventually left to take a job at NC State. Really resigned. Still, ol Mark did not even last as long as the Clemson Coach hired at the same time and the team eventually tanked. When Brownell is more successful at Clemson than the best bama has had in 30 years coaching with NC State level access.... shesh.
BTW, Nate Oats will be gone in two years. A PRIME power will buy him, especially up north near his historical home. Alabama is likely been contacted by Indiana about Oats. Not sure he will take that gig but Oats will get a blue-blood call eventually.

If you were interviewing in my organization and made a statement like that, then you and Brownell would have one more thing in common...one and done.
There’s no room for a leadership poverty mindset.

With the longest tenure of any coach, I would hope he is the winningest. But his annual schedule also has more games per season and more OOC games.
Are the international games counted in his record? I would assume so?

He also took over at a time where our team was making the NCAA tourney. I realize the roster was bare after the first season, but he still took over a better roster than some of our past coaches, especially Purnell. Purnell went 45-49 during his first 3 years which was mostly due to a 10-18 first year, and then went 93-41 over his final 4 years.
Burnell was able to take over Purnell's team and go 22-12 during his first year. He did of course have to rebuild the roster after that first year so I'm not claiming he walked into a completely golden situation. I'm only saying the difference in the situations at the start can also make a difference in the overall wins and percentage.

Percentage-wise, BB is not the winningest coach, but he is the losingest among those listed.
OP: Win - 61.1%, Loss - 38.9% RB: Win - 60.7%, Loss - 39.3% CE: Win - 58.0%, Loss - 42.0% BB: Win - 57.3%, Loss - 42.7%
Shyatt may take the prize for losingest.

OP was notorious for lining up the weakest possible OOC schedule. I think often we would place win the BigSouth. There was a reason why we would be snubbed for the NCAA with 25 wins and rightfully so. We would only play 4 power 5 programs pre-conference often with them being bottom dwellers of Jawja, Miss State, Coots. We beat so much of the Socon and BigSouth, we would jump out to 10-0 and then stuggler to winn 3 of our next 15 games. RB was at least slightly better by scheduling 1-2 decent programs but even his preseason was win padding minor-non-majors. Look at the 1995 non-conf schedule UNC–Asheville APPpalachian State, Winthrop, Charleston Southern South Carolina, Furman, Minnesota (L) Miami, Campbell WOOT BIG SOUTH BABY!
You need to look at the ACC winning percentage. Those are basically normalize peer schools. BB has the highest conference winning percentage of the group... and by a fairly wide margin.
