with Dennis Hopper. My older brother took me to see it. He had a way of finding the odd ones.
I didn't understand it in my 20's and have recently watched it again. I STILL don't get it! However, I have come to appreciate that most of it was filmed in Wilmington, NC...my old weekend stomping ground. Nothing like a good steak dinner at the Bridge Tender back in the 1990's.

gave me the DVD, I think as a gag, once I watched it. It was beyond turribel. If I had actually paid money to see it, I probably would have been tempted to go out and hang myself, it was that bad.

at all in the movie "Lost in Translation", and that one had Scarlett Johansson in it! Even she couldn't overcome the plot in that one. At a loss as to what led them to actually nominate that turkey for some Oscars.

I don't recall a "sick" panties scene, but will agree to a plea bargain and say it may have been over mu head. I just remember the severed ear, the inhalation of laughing gas, and wondering how you could keep a husband and child "kidnapped" for months in order to have the wife pay "ransom".
That...and the terrible acting by the locals.

Honorable Mention: Ordinary People with Mary Tyler Moore and Donald Sutherland - after that depression-fest, people were ordinarily looking for a cliff to dive off and end the suffering.

liked. You are right about the one liners.
"We're about to make animal noises!"
I doubt Amy Adams puts that one on her bio, but she was good in the small part she had.
That movie almost ruined NCIS for me, because every time I look at it now, I have a hard time not seeing Reese Bobby (Gary Cole, who took over for Gibbs).

everything being that age is like for a lot of kids. It’s hilarious because the characters are based on actual people with their odd idiosyncrasies and side-splitting imaginations. Fantastic movie for all ages. Realize that there isn’t a single foul word used in the whole movie worse than “crap.”

That one and beetlejuice are the only 2 I have ever walked out of.
A Company of Wolves was really weird, but good. Angela Lansbury was in it. Got best "award", at the time, for the werewolf transformation scene. There was a movie I saw called Steppenwolf that was just freaky, never was able to find it again
Of course, who can forget Rocky Horror Picture Show. Toast, rice and water guns in the movie theatre

I find it very strange someone would walk out on either. I recall watching BJ in the theater back in, I think, 88 when it came out.

Boxing Helena

The basic premise is a doctor is having an affair. After the woman ends the relationship, he becomes obsessed with her and refuses to accept that she has moved on so, after an accident, he amputates her limbs and holds her captive so she can't leave him. In the end, it turns out to be a dream and Helena wakes-up in the hospital with all her limbs intact.
Not sure how I ended up seeing this, but it was a very strange and horrible flick.

though I only saw the 1981 version with Jack Nicholson and Jessica Lange. I kept wondering what this had to do with a postman though I found out later it was a metaphor for delayed justice according to the author of the book I never read. I think I just wanted to see Jessica Lange.

Is that the movie they showed at the Holtzendorf YMCA where Divine eats dog sh-t? I was there and my date and I walked out during the hand job scene.
Another odd movie (but very good) was After Hours with Griffin Dunne (I think 1985). All about this guy who has a really bad day.

I am Arthur Frayn, and I am Zardoz. I have lived 300 years, and long to die. But death is no longer possible, I am immortal. I present now my story - full of mystery and intrigue. Rich in irony, and most satirical. It is set deep within a possible future, so none of these events have yet occurred. But they may! Be warned, lest you end as I. In this tale I am a fake god by occupation, and a magician by inclination. Merlin is my hero! I am the puppet master. I manipulate many of the characters and events you will see. But I am invented too for your entertainment and amusement. And you, poor creatures, who conjured you out of the clay? Is God in showbusiness too?

Mine was a movie called "Rubber". No before you think that it was about a killer tire. It was so weird and awful, yet had to watch it to the end. Here is the IMDB page with trailer. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1612774/ Rubber (2010) - IMDb Rubber: Directed by Quentin Dupieux. With Stephen Spinella, Jack Plotnick, Wings Hauser, Roxane Mesquida. A homicidal car tire, discovering it has destructive psionic power, sets its sights on a desert town once a mysterious woman becomes its obsession.

There is little known movie by Oliver Stone called U-Turn. It flew under the radar in the 90s because it was so strange. The cast is great though, it has Sean Penn, Nick Nolte, Billy Bob Thorton, etc. It is without a doubt the weirdest movie I have seen.

“ O Brother Where Art Thou” sucked! I think people feel like they’re not in the “in crowd” if they say they don’t like it.

"O Brother Where Art Thou?" It's just like Forest Gump for me. No matter how many times I have seen it, if I stumble across it channel surfing, have to stop and watch for awhile.

I loved Oh Brother Where Art Thou, but didn’t like Forrest Gump. I am weird, I know.

how he unintentionally gets involved in history at various points. (The most obvious one being him reporting strange activity at the Watergate Hotel, but there are others, as well.)
"I'm sorry I started a fight in the middle of your Black Panther Party" has got to be one of the great lines in cinema history.

Really weird. Also seems these days that they don't have any idea how to end a movie. They just seem to chop them off.

Has anyone ever seen the movie "Pi"? It's definitely the strangest the movie I've ever seen.

Check out "Buried" starring Ryan Reynolds

Most of the movie takes place inside a small box in which Ryan Reynolds has been buried alive. Very uncomfortable to watch.
I do agree with others here that Blue Velvet was a classic in weirdness but disagree with those who didn't like Napolean Dynamite. How could you not like Kip and Uncle Rico scheming to dominate the Tupperware business in the little town? Or Rex Quando's self defense clinics? or Napolean working at the poultry plant, or Uncle Rico using a time machine to go back to 1982 to win the state football championship, etc. etc.

Also, do yourself a favor and watch "The Midnight Man"

It's on Youtube and was filmed in Clemson and Anderson in the early 1970s. Why Burt Lancaster chose to be in this movie is beyond me, but it is so bad that it turns out to be pretty entertaining to watch.
You are welcome in advance.

I have watched some very strange ones but I can’t normally remember the names of what I have watched. Frustrating really. If someone starts talking about then I can tell you if I have seen it. Last weird movie I watched was called Watcher. Wife did not care for it. It was ok but definitely on the strange side.

Brewster McCloud - A Robert Altman film about a fallen angel who kills anyone who means harm to Brewster. Saw this movie at the late Friday night show when I was at Clemson in the early 70's
