Terry McAuliffe conceded the race???

Nov 3, 2021, 3:03 PM

How come he's not claiming voter fraud and starting lawsuits everywhere followed by rallies and a riot on the capitol building? What a jerk.

Falsehood flies, and truth comes limping after it, so that when men come to be undeceived, it is too late; the jest is over, and the tale hath had its effect: like a man, who hath thought of a good repartee when the discourse is changed, or the company parted; or like a physician, who hath found out an infallible medicine, after the patient is dead.

Nov 3, 2021, 5:59 PM

"Whatabout" is where a criticism of politician X is met with "well, whatabout politician Y, who did it too?"

Here, by contrast, I am pointing out what this politician did NOT do. It's exactly the opposite of whataboutism.

Because there's no civil war, silly. Get your facts straight. Republicans suspend habeas corpus during civil wars, and they file lawsuits based on fake voter fraud allegations when they lose elections.

To his credit, Larry Elder conceded in California as well...though he lost by 20+ and would have had a hard time establishing any credible basis for fraud. Not that "credible basis" is any major problem for conservative media.

Conservative media is composed of folks like Jack Posobiec - he of PizzaGate fame - and James O'Keefe, who are competing for the Grima Wormtongue Look-A-Like Contest.

I dunno, you decide.

Posobiec:

O'Keefe:

And of course, Grima Wormtongue himself:

I can't decide. Judges, anyone?

https://www.nytimes.com/1990/02/11/us/how-johnson-won-election-he-d-lost.html

Not necessarily true. Nixon also may well have had grounds to challenge the results in Illinois that gave JFK the win.

I do not think there was sufficient fraud in the last election to "steal" the election from Trump, but when states feel the need to continue expanded voter access due to COVID indefinitely, the potential for cheating goes up.

Virginia did not have election day, but a 45 day election season. Is that necessary? Is there not more room for fraud with trying to protect ballots over such a long period? Should ballot harvesting be allowed anywhere? Should ballots be accepted without a verifiable signature? Should ballots be mailed out to those not asking for them?

I am for expanding access to voting, but in a reasonable fashion that limits the potential for cheating or almost equally important, the perception that cheating occurred.

Why is it that we continue to see large Democratic cities and counties having delayed counts and very low returns until very late? I have no proof of cheating whatsoever, but it's not a good look.

The validity of our elections is extremely important as is access, but cheating has occurred and can still occur.
