Is on their 4th coach since Brownell took over. You think we’d have a lot more to show for it but we really only have one more round of 64 appearance and a single round of 32 victory over that time. That’s pretty well offset by their ACC tournament championship.

Stinks that we lost to that Miami team in the ACCT that only had 7 available players and fresh off a night game prior to ours the next afternoon. Would have had a great opportunity vs Ga Tech in the Semis with what became a forfeit after vs UVA in the finals due to Covid.

I don’t think that’s the point they were focusing on. What is being said is, if a program bad enough to go through 4 coaches has the same success; isn’t it time to at least try One different coach here?

If a coach has disappointed for 3+ consecutive years, we should absolutely get some new blood. Sure there's a chance that it could be a bad hire, but the reward of possibly landing a superstar coach outweighs the risk by a country mile.

A #### easy draw? We had the 3/4 4th seed and 2/6th 12th seed. It was a perfectly average draw for a 5 seed. I don't think Brad should still be living on it because he crashed and burned with the 2018-2019 team with all that we had returning, but classifying it as a #### easy draw is just ignorance. You should really stick to pretending you know things about football.

Tell me you didn’t watch the GaTech without telling me. That’s the, at best, 13th best squad in the ACC. We’re the best we’ve been in 20 years supposedly. Glad I got one of the Bros on record. This will age worse than Judge Keller’s Mike Young comments.

I know you aren't the leader of the Brownell fan club
4

But neither one of these situations is ideal. This is just comparing bad to bad. Teams that fire coaches too quickly and burn through them in bunches are a notorious problem in sports. They can't ever gain traction because they tear everything down before it can get built. That's not what Clemson needs.
Wait out the rest of this season with Brownell and hope that the team can turn things around in conference play. If it ends up being another year without a bid, Neff will almost certainly make a change. I hope that won't be necessary, but if it is, I trust and expect that Graham will hire the right guy and then give him enough time to make a fair evaluation.

My underlying point is that we’ve made the long play - investing considerable real and opportunity cost into Brad Brownell and even if he “ makes the tourney” our ROI is terrible. We’ve supposedly done it “the right way”. I used Ga Tech because they have been a dumpster fire over the same period but arguably have more to show for it AND might actually have a guy who can finally get it done. Surely there is a sweet spot somewhere in the middle. Brownell has 2 seasons left on his contract. Are we going to potentially let him ride it to zero? Outside of retiring legends, that would be extraordinarily unusual. Is just making the NCAA, with what was presented as his best team and player, good enough? What do we expect going forward? While I wouldn’t describe it as a complete rebuild, next year would have to be a major step backwards. Is this truly the best we are to ever hope for as Clemson basketball fans?

Prior to the last game, Girard, C Humter and Hall were accounting for 57.5% of the team scoring average. Don't think Beatle and D Hunter, who look to be starters at guard next season, or even an incoming freshman, will be able to match the two current ones. Wiggins, Shef, Clark and Godfrey will have to score at a greater clip, assuming no transfers.

But Ga Tech is paying off more coaches than we are. So I would say we are in better shape than Ga. Tech.
All you BB should be fired fans. What changes would you implement and who would you hire to replace BB ? How many wins should we expect? ACC titles? Tournament appearances? Tourney wins ? Salary ? How many years will give new HC ? Will you increase spending to higher level - As we did for Dabo in football when we hired him as HC ?
When you fire Brad what’s your future after Firing BB based on many of the above questions.

I’ve said it before and still believe that Brownell has benefitted over the years because of Dabo’s success. Tech’s coaches have not had that luxury.
In looking at Ga tech’s success, or lack thereof, over the last 14 years, I would probably look at Brownell’s record vs them. Assuming Ga Tech admin used that as major reason in firing those stiffs, plus Brownell out recruiting them, barely. That and the fact they have been getting killed each year. Actually surprised Pastner wasn’t fired after their Duke home blowout loss last year.
At one time, tech was the only ACC team with which we had a somewhat competitive record, Brownell has improved that, but who really cares? It’s Tech, and they have sucked in both sports for a while.
Ga Tech’s 2OT win makes for interesting discussion, but ultimately the Clemson administration is the key decider in what will happen.
I’d bet an NCAA bid makes this discussion moot, but who knows? Lot of basketball left. And we may lose to a quad 4 team tomorrow, but we haven’t yet.
Louisville also has several coaches over the last 14 years too, but I wouldn’t aim to be like them.
People passing judgement at this point in the season are no better than those anointing us three weeks ago. Let’s enjoy the season! Go Tigers!

“ People passing judgement at this point”.
13 years. Nothing that is likely to happen this season will remotely change how Brownell’s body of work should be viewed.

I agree, admin is obviously not looking at the full body of work. Should they be? Should they be using Ga Tech as the measuring stick? If so, we have larger problems.
Hell, your study on the first nine years set the bar on the last 5.5. It’s gotten better, but is that good enough? We will see. Thanks for setting bar so low.

A number of coaches if it comes to that. Here’s some recognizable names calling make similar or less salary than BB.
Shaka Smart, Greg McDermett, Bobby Hurley, Steve Alford
If you do it, you go big and get who you want. A $5M/yr coach is where we should aim. Need someone who can keep the core players, the incoming recruits, and then go get more good recruits.
And those folks thinking the TV deal (driven by football) doesn’t matter, this is why SEC basketball has highly paid and really good coaches. Btw, FSU not making CFP cost the ACC and by extension Clemson money also.
