They reap the benefits ludicrously given to them by our government in the form of grants, tax relief for # of years, benefits, etc. It's just wonderful. $1/4 mil to get up to code. All levels of govt have a hand in picking the winners and the losers in this so called free market economy–

HA. Yes. Those steak biscuits at Katherine's were bigger than your face and came in a box. They would be so busy on Clemson Game Day that they would have people out in the pickup window line with walkie talkies taking orders before CFA was doing it with electronic devices.

Sad to see a long time business having to shut its doors. Really enjoyed the downtown location in the '50s and early 60s. Their hotdogs were the best. Curious if Perone's Deli is still open nearby. Haven't been near that area in more than 25 years. Ate at the Palmetto the last time through there.

Vince Perone's is long gone. It was razed for a Fresh Market shopping center. The Palmetto is still there but it was remodeled and those old tiny booths were taken out for tables. Much better and the food is still good.
