That's a first, seeing Death Valley with a baseball ⚾️ diamond ! I just hope this doesn't cause a problem with the grass in the removal area for this coming football season.....

At the Spring Game I had a chat with one of the on-field LEO's as they were clearing the field. He said that the crews have been working on the field non-stop, and that currently it was not in it's "final shape" (i'm guessing intentionally because of this game).
I thought it looked super healthy personally, and the paint was pretty tight. i always pick up a tuft of dirt and eat it for Tommy)...
But, it was a cool chat (thank you for your service) and a positive nod to the field teams, too.

It says there will be a net there. Knowing the Bananas wacky rules, my bet is that if the outfielder catches it off the net, it's an out.

I really hope the record is broken and fans will show up and show off Death Valley, Clemson and everything. Seems like it could be a big gamble. But if it's successful and we pack the house, this will be huge PR and potentially pay big dividends for all our sports in the future. Wish I could make it. It was quite fun in the fall.

Who or what are the Savannah Bananas? Are they for real or something like the Harlem Globetrotters? Why do they want to use the Valley and for how long?

They are a very popular baseball "entertainment" team. They have unique rules, put on a great show, and there is professional-level baseball talent on the field. Yes, very much like the Globetrotters.
They are using Death Valley to play one baseball game. The crowd will break the record for largest attendance at a Bananas game.

I doubt they are leaving the seat backs out since every seat doesn't have one. Don't they normally remove those for the summer after the spring game?

It sure looks like a pretty expensive ordeal for a trickster/comedy sport team. I for one hope that by digging up a big chunk of DV doesn't cause any long-term damages to DV for our FB team to endure if there are any lasting damages cause by a comedy sport done with a baseball on a FB field.
