Not one person crying about CTE or whatever the experts call it.
1. These guys where no safety equipment 2. They hit like mack trucks
Want to know why nobody cares? No money in that sport to grab. Same thing with boxing.

former NFL players who have brain damage? You're in denial that a number of former NFL players have committed suicide from their early 40's to early 50's due to brain damage which led to depression? Are you in denial to the fact that Jim McMahon has dementia? Are you in denial about the over whelming medical evidence showing the long term effects of concussions.
Read this and become a little smarter:

Seriously, it seems like over time Tnet has people whose IQ continues to drop.

Rugby players are taught how to tackle properly to avoid head injuries. Their style of tackling is far, far different from football tackling.

Exactly. And in truth, money is ruining sports.

Last summer I was talking with a guy from France. We were talking soccer and he said, with no prompting, there's too much money in sports. It's true. In the EPL if your team is not funded by an Arab Emirate's airline or owned by a Russian oligarch or funded by a huge multinational, you really have no chance of winning the title. And no one cares about winning the title anyhow - they care about finishing in the top 4 so they can get into the Champions League and get the TV money that comes with it. A lot like the BCS and American football. The way ESPN is pimping the SEC and the deregulation of recruiting is bad new, IMO.
I was at Clemson in the 80s. Other schools didn't like us because they thought we were a football factory. Well, some of that was true. From the IPTAY-connected boosters to the Bengal Babes, a group of gals with a reputation for being, shall we say, "very friendly" to recruits and players. We will all be like Miami soon.

1. No reason to be a di@@ 2. If you dont agree thats fine 3. I see no way that you can prove the sole cause of a player who committed suicide was because of concussions. You cannot definitively say that guy killed himself because of a tackle. Some pencil pusher can come up with his evaluation....but in the end you cannot come to a definitive conclusion. 4. Concussions happen in every sport. You dont hear about Rugby players or boxer killing themselves because of CTE.
If there is money to be made people who squandered millions are going to go after it. Its the world we live in.

I sat and watched a two hour block of it. Many many many head to head, arm to head, upper body collisions running FULL steam ahead.
Apples to Apples.

Tackling difference
Feb 10, 2013, 12:15 PM

The difference is in rugby you have to tackle and hitting is illegal. Most of your big hits in football are a guy throwing a shoulder into a player which is illegal in rugby. Also, a lot of the big hits in football are blind (wr across the middle, RB turning and getting hit, etc.) where in rugby that would be offsides so your tackles are predominately from the front.

Also, since there are no HARD pads, the tackler feels as much pain as the tackEE, so tackles are low ... in fact, high tackles are illegal ... so they say .... its a great game, its actually more poplar then people realize.
