I am both a Clemson football and Duke hoops fan. More of a Clemson football fan. However, I am a Duke alum. What you all seek to do to the ACC would mean schools like Duke and UNC would be relegated to some 2nd tier conference and would force the reduction of multiple olympic sports. For a few million more in your pockets you are good with so many other schools suffering?! Duke, UNC, NC State, Pitt, BC, Syracuse would all be hit hard while Clemson and FSU flee to greener pastures.
We, yes we as in all the ACC schools, signed a CONTRACT. That means we honor our word. At the time it looked good with the creation of the ACC network. NOW you want to break it for pure greed? "Honey sorry I want to end our marriage because I saw a prettier girl at the supermarket checkout line"?! SMH, grow up!

You Blue Devils would do the same if you had the leverage. If Basketball was leveraged the same as football, you all would look to capitalize as well. Fact is that basketball is not the same revenue generator as football except for 1 month out of the year. If the SEC was the bigger basketball conference, you Durham sinners would be headed to another conference and wouldn't think twice about Clemson or the ACC. Your FSU would be UNC.

This whole concept of taking from teams which earn it and giving to those slackasz teams which put all their money into basketball rather than go about to produce a top football team is damnable.
Build a stadium that seats 90K. Find a headcoach and buy some football player who can produce on the field rather than spending all your money on one and done BB stars and meet your needs.

I do not disagree with the Contract aspect, was horrible contract when it was signed and is worse now... that being said... the ACC will become a group of 5 Conference on its current trajectory and become irrelevant... ESPN is going broke so they have no interest in any renegotiation of GOR...
The ACC should have scooped up UCF and WVU or Cinci when they had the chance ...

Don't talk about love for Clemson and the ACC. How much extra probation did UNC get for their latest classroom cheat scandal? Nothing, unlike the additional punishment added (above and beyond the NCAA) to Clemson by the ACC. As far as Tobacco Road schools, there's no sympathy or empathy here.
How fast do you think it would take UNC or Duke to change their logo from ACC to SEC or B1G? It just sounds like if Clemson and FSU are gone there are no football coattails to hold on to.

A few more dollars? Bit of an understatement don't ya think? What's the gap going to be in a few years....something like 60 million. In today's cfb/NIL world there's no way you will compete with the big boys working with that kinda deficit. Yes i know teams aren't supposed to be paying but lets be real. Not only that having that type cash in the coffers frees up booster money to pay NIL deals. So either way it makes a difference.
The conference has been a dead man walking for a while now and that's precisely why swoffy locked everyone into this crappy, long-term GOR deal. Trying to stave off the inevitable.
So call Clemson the bad guy if you want but at this point it's a matter of self preservation. Leave or die.
As you've probably gathered at this point you'll find no sympathy here for a NC school in case you haven't noticed. I do like wake but you dookies, tarheels and wuffies can all go kick rocks.

And not those outside. Clemson is a founding member of the ACC but has always been treated as an outsider. I've been wanting Clemson to leave the ACC for 40 years. But we remain loyal to a conference that stabs us in the back. The football here is absolutely lousy. It's not Big time football. Except for Clemson and FSU and occasionally Miami. Duke has never taken football seriously. They do currently have a great coach but only a matter of time before he wants to go somewhere with over 35,000 fans cheering. Georgia tech no longer tries to be good at football. Hardly anyone in this league does. That's why we are getting very low pay. Yes THEY (University Presidents) signed a contract but I never signed it nor would I have. But don't fret. I don't see anyone going anywhere.

We didn’t choose a lot of things that Swofford and others forced us into. We also have long-term memories of which schools had Clemson’s back during the probation period and which schools voted to extend the extra year. Remember 5-2? How did Duke and UNC vote? Please don’t come on here and use the “woe is me (Tobacco Rd)” sales pitch because it’s falling on deaf ears. If and when Clemson and FSU leave then it will be long past due and will have nothing to do with a contract. It will be about keeping up with Jones’s in a world of Transfer Portal and NIL, No Cap and protecting Clemson’s best interest for years to come. There’s no we and there never has been. ✌️

You had one of the best coaches around, David Cutcliffe, and didn't give him enough tools to be able to consistently succeed. Clemson even gave you a good quarterback, and you didn't know what to do with him. He had to go to Appalachian State to finally find success. I hope, very soon, to see you and the rest of Tobacco Road in the rear view mirror.

Now, imagine forces were working to create super conferences out of the basketball programs, and imagine Duke was looking at other conferences making tens of millions more than Duke every year, all be funneled back into their basketball programs.
Now imagine Duke fans sitting around discussing their options.
At what point does “Hey guys, we can’t leave the ACC…think of what that would do to Clemson.” Enter into the discussion?

UNC screwed clemson over and Duke would have done it in a heart beat too. So no I have no sympathy for them. Tobacco road has benefitted from the ACC office favoring them for years and their actions have led them to where they are today. Ignoring football and putting all their eggs in basketball is whats screwed them. And you want to know the funny thing? The SEC and Big 10 are BETTER in basketball now!!!!
