Agree. That was not a good call, but we have a history of doing that, at least over the past four years. Don’t they remember Watson to Renfro?

Horrible 3rd and fourth down play calling. Sometimes I wonder about Riley going brain dead witl those calls.

Yea, not a single throw when our receivers are getting open repeatedly

and Cade is on his game throwing the football.
It made 0 sense to continue up the middle runs.
Jake Birningstool as a threat at the goal-line was the option, and if they take that away quickly you have Williams/Moore routes to get open.... Cade was drifting back nicely at times and allowing receivers to separate, which is what you need at the goal line, that scramble threat will get the DB/safety eyes moving!
A TD in that situation again puts pressure on Texas...the first time we got within a TD it was a nasty 77 yard TD run, really hurt but the Tigers went right back down the field and lost momentum with poor play choices.

Actually the first down play was a shot to the corner for TJ since he repeatedly torched that db all the way down that sideline to get to the goaline

I now recall that you are exactly right.
The option play to the 1 was a nice play, but most have said and I believe the pitch might have scored the TD... however, it also could have been a bad pitch and terrible outcome so I do not blame Cade if he is not comfortable with the pitch, SO DONT CALL THAT PLAY IF YOUR QB IS NOT GOOD WITH IT....surely Cade let coaches know because he appeared to never even think about a pitch as he saw defenders closing down on him.

Yes, the perfect play if you can execute
And they stacked the LOS meaning Birningstool will have a chance to go up and make a play on the football.
I mean yes we could've got a TD running it up the middle, but the running game was not getting any push and Texas was owning the LOS in the run game.

I record every game. I watched that play and others many times not only in real time but frame by frame. The Texas cornerback #5 (Malik Muhammad, I think) had the pitch man. Adams was well covered, and if Cade had pitched the ball, he would have been tackled for a loss if not worse.
Once the CB saw Cade keep the ball, he left the pitch man to turn inside. To the casual observer, such as yourself, it would appear that Adams was open. But he was most definitely well covered.

Goto the 19:00 mark. 5 was there but you can't say that Adams couldn't have out run him since his momentum was already going in the right direction but 5 was not.

I thought exactly the same as you and posted such previously. I reacted to Adam’s putting his hands on his helmut in frustration as if the pitch would have been a walk TD.
However, I just read an article from an Austin paper that supports what TigerDan said.
“ Clemson's best chance to turn Saturday's game into a competitive one came with about eight minutes remaining and Texas holding a 14-point advantage. Facing third-and-goal from the 1-yard line, the Tigers ran an option play. Quarterback Cade Klubnik, an Austin native, carried the ball to the right side of the line of scrimmage, with a running back trailing him for a potential pitch.
The pitch never came, in part because Barryn Sorrell and Malik Muhammad did a disciplined job of setting the edge on that flank.”
"I don't know exactly who was where on the play, but I know we set the edge really well, and that allowed our defenders inside out to make the stop when (Klubnik) turned up there on the 1-yard line," Sarkisian said.

Goto the 19:00 mark, Sark may be right, but I don't think it's as clear as he makes it sound. Not sure if Adams has the speed to out run 5. Green might have though.

Ironically, I think one of the cutesy plays would have worked here. Jump Pass, quick pitch to outside, Jumbo but bounce to outside, straight up boot cade and let him run to the corner.

He does this all the fkn time in some sort of fond Alabama memories of yore. We’ve tried it for years on the goal line, on fourth downs; and we always get stuffed. He’s literally insane.

Agree. A man off the street knows you do t run up the middle against Dexter Lawrence and Christian Wilkins which was their equivalent. Cade has brain farts occasionally and so does his OC.

in key possession against Carolina, after the onsides kick I believe. Failed to put neck on throat (later comment from Riley unfathomable: "we took foot off gas"). Gave them the ball right back with 5 -something remaining, ball game.

Texas Legend Darrell Royal had a saying: "Don't forget to dance with who brung ya." We pass the ball all the way down the field and then when we get inside the 5, we break out the Waffle House menu. It is called Dabo Ball.

I had to look and see if Billy Napier was calling plays. I would have ran a play action pass to burning stool. Hind sight is 20/20.

There are some teams you can physically run the ball on in those situations and there are some teams that will not allow you to come up the middle near the goal line or 4 th and 1. Got yo find some plays that will work against those teams.

I would like us to try the push tush like Hurt does at Philly. Put Cade under center and Woods or somebody in the backfield.
