Steve Addazio

What are thoughts he joins the staff the help the offensive line issues? He has had some pretty good offensive lines at both Florida when he was the offensive coordinator and when he was coach at BC. Knows the ACC as well.

All I know about him is seeing FSU play him every year, first at Florida, then at BC.

I highly respect his coaching ability. Both schools had better OL's than we did every game we played. FSU fans were talking about hiring him away for Florida to become out OL.

He always impressed me as being great at growing up bulldozers. Just firing off the ball and opening holes. A Wisconsin style OL. I don't see him focusing on zone blocking as the basis for his running game. I have no idea how he would fit into Clemson culture.

Those are some really good points about the zone blocking. I think he could fit in with the culture of Clemson though. Dabo always had high respect for him and praise when talking about him while he was at BC. He is a fired up guy that maybe is what this Oline needs in order to improve.

As I recall one of his issues at BC was treating his former players that didn’t tout his party line like crap. Lot of childish petty stuff like trying to keep a former player that disagreed with him publicly out of the stadium

I like the OL firing off the ball, pulling and opening holes for backs but that doesn't work so good for an RPO offense. That is unless you can survive 5 or 6 ineligible receiver down field penalties a game or don't rely on RPOs every play. Look at how the Clemson OL has responded since the RPO game has pretty much vanished the last 5 games basically going to man blocking. Zone blocking is more difficult and complicated because if just 1 O Lineman makes a mistake, the whole scheme is blown up.

Great idea. He can recruit good O Lineman up north. He always had a great O line at BC

BC had some big Italian and Polish guys on their OL that played for him when he was in Boston. They were not fast, but they blocked pretty good, especially for the run game.
