Speaking of Jim Phillips

There will never be another one, but I really do wish we had something better than we have now. I cringe every time I hear Yanity say "there's orange in the endzone" on a highlight being shown on ESPN. It should be banned along with the woohoo.

I like Pete Yanity very much. He is far better than what any other school has in SC, maybe as good as anyone in NC. Enjoy him with the Panthers in pre-season.

I like him a lot. He's not Jim Phillips, but nobody is and it's not fair to expect him to be.

for the record, Pete handled a very difficult situation with the utmost class when he took over. And the other side of the coin is, he's been here almost 10 years now. Time to embrace him as family as well

will always be about Jim's smooth voice....it's like the guy replacing Larry Munson for Georgia...he may be great but he'll never be loved the way Larry was...just no way. There are only a few who come along who are loved in that way.

You know why it's so hard to find a Jim Phillips?

Cause kids don't start smoking at age 12 anymore. Think about it...Phillips, Pat Summerall, Munson, etc....all had those deep voices honed by years of premature smoking.
