Read about this last night. Shocking and very sad. The read made it sound like he was a great guy and coach and was turning that program around. Hate this for his family.

GREAT, GREAT human being. A Dabo kinda guy but presented it differently.

Deep faith in Christ, amazing wife and 3 kids. He engaged the community entirely - totally was about Tampa.
He had some health issues - unspecified - it was serious for a little bit but then seemed to get better.
My guy texted that it was never something to take lightly, but never did he think it could end up this way.
100% speculation on my part - heart deal - arrhythmia, valve, something - maybe doing a restart to get it back in sync - gone terribly and tragically wrong.
I can’t tell you enough what a bright light, great dude this guy was. His whole family. And USF was going to do everything possible to keep him around for a long time. He was their guy. And the AD knows the only way to get USF into the big hunt and survive the shakeup that is coming in college athletics is to win and be desirable.
They recently got invited into the AAU - so they have the academia & research headed in the right direction. Gotta drive the athletics way past where they are now.
Coach Amir was that guy for basketball.
Tragically sad and 100% blindsided.

He was one of the best upcoming coaches in the nation. Took over a 1-28 Kennesaw State program and took them to the tournament and then was well on his way to turning around USF. Was probably going to get a big job in a few years.

I saw him recently being interviewed. He didn't just seem like a nice guy--he was a nice guy.
God be with his family and friends.
