artificially ginned up "interest" from other schools to create perceived leverage in his contract discussions with Tennessee on a contract that was set to expire (standard agent protocol). Most indicators point to him actually wanting to stay in Knoxville and he needed to create some sizzle after getting boat raced in Columbus.

Tommy Bowden did the same thing with Arkansas to get more money out of Clemson, then he got fired less than a year after that.
