The NFL put a stop to free agency because it was doing or had the potential to do what the portal is doing to CFB. Plus salary cap limited how many players you could buy. CFB is going to have to adopt the NFL way of doing things. The sooner, the better.

Schools aren't paying players, NIL collectives are the 'employers'. No way to cap that as it's directly tied to the person. Portal transfer changes (wait a year, etc) and university presidents imposing graduation criteria would have the bigger impact (control), IMO.

My concern is does Dabo have the energy and desire to continuously deal with insane roster turnover year after year. As we sit right now, there is no evidence he does. In 4 years there have been 2 QBs, one a former player and one the Bear’s grandson that have transferred here. Then what 3 offers to OLs?
As much as I dislike him, Mike Norvell has big time value right now because of how has built his team through the portal.

If coaches can leave in the middle of the night and sign a $75 million dollar deal with a new school then the players should be able to also. If I was Rattler I would demand that USuC double my NIL deal in order for me to stay another year. If not I would go to another school. His chances of getting a long term deal in the NFL are slim and none.

"College" Football, at the Power 5 level, is dead. It may still largely exist
