I’m very intrigued with Reeves. I get he has not been good this year. He’s had some good moments, but my impression of him is it’s puzzling why he’s not better. He’s so tall and and he actually runs the floor pretty good. He does not seem as unathletic as other 7+ footers I’ve seen through the years, but yet on the court he’s a mess not performing well for the most part. Hopefully a big part of his poor performance is injury related, and still trying to get his confidence back after the injuries.
My biggest compliment of Brownell through the years is his players improve if they stay with the program for a few years. If he sticks around, I think they’ll get Reeves playing much better. I think he has a lot of upside potential.

I think Brownell alluded to his on going ankle/foot injuries. Unlikely he will ever really get fully healthy. I assume that’s why his time at Duke and now Clemson preseason hasn’t produced a player who looks ready for D1 basketball. Brownell might have conclude this transfer pickup might be a bust, because if he can’t get healthy enough then he’s not available to coach up and improve.

If he was not a player to potentially show production he wouldn't be playing. Randolph Childress the color commentary guy for the Syracuse game said he looked good when he was watching practice and thinks he could produce some. He did have a nice pút back rebound dunk vs VA Tech so there is that. I think next season he could give a good 10 to 15 mins of production and go from there. It's too early to say he is a bust.

He’s been blatantly awful. There’s no beating around the bush. Needs a ton of work.

Sometimes it's OK for a guy to be a backup and....

Just rebound, play decent defense and not screw things up when the starter is out if they are a big guy. Obviously, he's not getting a lot of minutes, as we prefer to move Scheff to the 5 when Lahkin is out. Really not sure why people are zeroing in on him...if he develops and improves, he'll do OK and can contribute.

If he can just develop into a solid backup the next 2 upcoming year's that would be great. I think he can.

And we’ve never had a player like him (from that physical standpoint alone) (that I can remember). I’m pulling for him, and I hope he sticks it out with us and continues to improve.

Another thing is that he went to Duke, but he was only a 3 star player out of HS. Number 9 player in the state of VA and the #28 center. He was the 420th player overall. He was always a project.

I was going by 247. He wasn't some badassk out of HS. He is just big and somewhat coordinated.

I remember a guy from Pitt ...7 ft Aaron Gray...could hardly run down the court his freshman year, by the time he was a senior was a pretty good player. Hope this is the sane type of progression

At this point you have to consider this a recruiting miss by the staff

But I think our coaches can still coach him up, even though we are not known as a developmental program. Let’s refrain from hiding behind injuries though. Do we know who was responsible for bringing him in. Might be time to have a difficult talk with that coach, if we’re serious about improving our basketball program.

Brownells players have developed

Even though he’s used the transfer portal in a big way, the players that have stayed at Clemson for a few years have consistently improved. Think of Hunter Tyson, Chase Hunter, PJ Hall and several others. I think his biggest strength is helping his players improve year to year.

because I am a CBB defender, but the stats just don’t bear it out. If I had to describe player development at Clemson, the word I’d use is “inconsistent”.
PJ Hall: PJ’s FG percentage, 3 pt percentage, and free throw percentage all dropped his senior year.
Hunter Tyson: Hunter’s 2 pt shooting percentage dropped off substantially after his second season, and never fully recovered. His 3 pt shooting percentage dropped off after his third season and never fully recovered.
Chase Hunter: Chase’s 3 pt shooting percentage dropped off substantially his 5th season with Clemson, with his 2 pt shooting percentage doing the same his 4th season. His points per game also dropped off his 5th season.
It’s these inconsistencies that we really need to take a hard look at.

Lol. Funny but untrue. Tyson was 1st team All-ACC his final year. Chase will be this season. He might be first player 50/45/90 in ACC since Kyrie Irving at Duke.

Francis Marion I can’t understand your agenda. This is the most ridiculous post I’ve ever seen. Do you remember Chase Hunter as a freshman and sophomore? Do you remember Hunter Tyson early in his career.? Do you remember Gabe Devoe early in his career? To suggest they didn’t improve throughout their tenure with Brownell is ridiculous. Obvious you are just trolling. You are a joke if you don’t understand that Brownell improves players if they stay with him. Clearly, you are just playing games trying to revoke a response.

Off the top of my head, big guys who were legitimately bad / not very good when they came to Clemson but contributed solidly by the end of their careers:
- Sidy Djitte - Landry Nnoko - Catalin Baciu (BoBo)
So I am hoping in 2 years Reeves develops along to be a solid 15 minute per game contributor. He certainly has elite size and runs the floor well, time will tell.

Want to see how good Christian Reeves would have been before these injuries occured watch the Duke blue-white scrimmage before his freshman season. Link:
