Agreed, if I were boss I would make Wes co-coordinator and put him back in the booth where by all accounts, he was one of the best in the nation. Then I would elevate Mike Reed as the other Co.

No, no more internal hires. I am fine with Goodwin remaining an analyst in the booth. But we need an elite outside hire for coordinator.

Forget the utter failure of fundamentals, his entire scheme is awful. I just dont see any reason to continue with this clearly failed experiment.

Tendencies are not the same as scheme.
Wes Goodwin was BV's second pair of eyes essentially - the difference lies in what BV was able to do with the info Wes gave him. I think he'd thrive more in a co-DC role, not as a sole DC.

Alot less blitz. Too much prevent defense rushing 3. Which never works I believe he rushed 3 or even 2 on the 3rd and 9 in the 4th. Minimal stunts. Terrible adjustments.

safety was my biggest gripe on the 2024 defense. it actually why i'm so for Mikey Conn to be fired
i was expecting Tayvoy feagin to get significant playing time. he had an INT in the spring game
and Ricardo Jones should have played a lot more too.

...but I doubt he will want to do that and will probably take a few years off and collect a check or take a job at a different school as a coach. I think Goodwin is better suited for a job as a Defensive analyst/consultant in the booth, in fact I think that is where he shines best. But that is just feeling on my part, more than fact.

there is 0 way you can retain a man that leads a defense ranked outside the top 100 against the run. the run defense cost us our losses this year and never got fixed. We need more talent for sure, but we had enough talent to be better than we were. just so poorly coached,no way you keep him if you are serious about winnning.

On the other hand great coaches can make 3* players into 4* and 5*. BV did.

analyst role. Even that could be a problematic as Goodwin would be taking a huge demotion where the human nature of such a move would be resentment.
About the only exception to demoting and keeping Goodwin is if he, himself, requests the demotion. I doubt that happens and as such we just need to send Goodwin on his way to avoid any potential disgruntled employee issues hanging around the program.

Goodwin is not the problem. Depth was the problem this year. Clemson will be much better next season.

I am tired of this narrative. We have dudes on defense and more talent then 80% of the teams in CFB.
There is no excuse to be ranked 80th in rushing and 70th overall on defense. NONE.
