Most exciting game in Death Valley you been to?

I'm very young, but for me it's FSU 2011. I also had the privilege of being on the hill for the final two minutes, the final defensive stand, and got to rush the field. I also turned a friend that thought he was a coot into a Tiger with the game experience.

When you reach my age and have been to so many and have forgotten so many facts..... it's best not to sprain my brain and just claim that it has to be EVERY DARN ONE I WENT TO.... (at least, it was every one we won.)

I resemble your thoughts. All the wins were important, but I can't remember any specifics about the coots, even from when I was on the team. The memories fade, but the thing I do remember most is that they never were much of a factor in anything, no matter how hard they tried. Some things never change.

Nothing better than watching the Tigers beat the chickens at Home. Acutally, it's sweet watching the Tigers beat the chickens anywhere. But, the question was about games in the Valley.

Gonna throw Texas A&M in 2005 out there
Sep 25, 2013, 9:39 PM

|
Was the season opening game at home against a Top 25 Texas A&M team.. I remember being so excited going into that game...
Then of course, we won it on a last second field goal 25-24... but the snap was low and if not for Cole Chason getting it in place in time, it could have been a heartbreaking ending...

2003 FSU has got to top my list; it was special in so many ways. Honorable mentions are 2013 UGA, 2009 FSU, Miami 2005, TAMU 2005, GT 2006, USC 1998 (first time I saw us beat them at home), USC 2000, USC 2004, and GT 1991. GT 1991 because they were defending national champions, and the stadium was absolutely packed with people. We beat them 9-7 when they missed a last second field goal. Very exciting game the entire time, if I remember correctly.

1966 CU/UVa game I was Sr in HS here for BandDay and we trailed 35-18 going to the 4th. Jacky Jackson and the "Needle" Jimmy Addison put 22 on th Cavs to keep the streak alive.

Every single game in the 80's when the crowd was non stop...
Sep 26, 2013, 2:37 AM
|
|
loud all game long no matter who we were playing. Don't get me wrong, we still have a passionate and loud crowd. But there have been only two games since the 80's where the crowd was as intense all game long the way we were in the 80's, and that was the FSU game in 1999 and this years game against UGA.
This years Georgia game was not only memorable for the win, but for the non stop intensity the fans showed during the game. That kind of intensity made Death Valley, Death Valley. That kind of intensity made opposing team players scared to play at Clemson. Hopefully, we can keep on matching that intensity, and make Death Valley the feared place to play as it was back from the late 70's to early 90's.

For me it would probably be one of the 3: -Texas A&M in 2005 (my first game as a student) -Miami in 2005 (triple OT, a loss but the crowd and noise blew my mind) -FSU 2011
UGA this year was a great one too, but it was my first game not sitting on the hill since that Texas A&M game, and while it was still super awesome, it took some of that extra thrill away.

NCState 1967
Exciting is the word and this game had it. I hope my memory is right about the quarters and the wind ... Our opening kickoff went through the goal post and up on the grass. This meant that we would face the 4th quarter wind. Holding a 7-6 lead it seemed almost certain that the Woofpack would get several chances at a field goal with that ferocious 4th quarter wind ... and only one would give them the win. The best way to stop that would be to keep the ball, which against that wind could only be done on the ground. Indeed it was sweep right, sweep left, through the middle time after time. The line pushed and the backs powered and nobody did anything stupid. When Clemson went into the west end zone the place exploded and a field-goal proof lead was in hand. Never mind that NCState scored 100 earlier that season, they only had single digits that day.
