So which is it??

I hear that LSU beat 6 top 10 ranked teams this season.
And Clemson didn't play any. If you ask me it's not that way.
You either get to count the ranking at the time you play them or the ranking at the end of the season.
Some of the top 10 that LSU played aren't top 10 at the end of the season
And some of CU's wins (TAMU and UVA) were ranked when we played them.
Which way do you want to count it? Can't have it both ways you bunch of bayou corndoggers

where were UVA and Tamu when Clem played them?

LSU fans didn't notice.
If they were Top Ten at the time, Clem played 2.
LSU played and beat 6, the most ever in the history of the AP Poll (started in 30s).
That does not mean that LSU will win but it does indicate that comparing statistics is a problem since data is from different samples.

you can throw them out the window. It's not going to matter who you beat, etc. The game will be decided on the field.

Nobody tried to have it both ways. Just stated a fact. The final polls won’t be released till after the season so it’s a bit premature to reference them. I think Clemson played two ranked teams during the season in the Aggies and Cavaliers, neither which were top ranked programs, neither of which were road games. Also, the rankings in season can mean something more as injuries do play a role in how a teams season unfolds. The more relevant point in citing the caliber of competitors is the continued stat comparisons being made by many Clemson posters. Is there a Clemson fan alive that doubts LSUs national rankings in various statistical categories would look a shade better if we swapped schedules with Clemson?

Or worse. You'd probably have a loss.

Yeah lsu played a tough schedule this year. Congratulations. It’s just a talking point now. All that matters is what happens next Monday.
lsu should really be a double digit favorite. Greatest team of all time. They should be # 1,2,3 and 4 in the rankings since no one else stands a chance. No defense can stop Bureaux. Etc. Etc. All the talk will make the Clemson win even sweeter...

Huh? it should always be current/present ranking?
That does not make sense to me. But perhaps you were being sarcastic.
If Team A is ranked #10 to start the season or at any other point in the season, then that is the subjective opinion of that teams's competitiveness.
If Team B beats TEAM A. Well, TEAM B beat a ranked team , ranked #10 when they played them. The ranking at the time they played was the subjective perception of the competitive superiority of the teams when they played.
If TEAM A goes on to finish below #10 or even out of the Top 25, whether due to losing players to injury or just being overvalued/overranked, their FINAL or even next ranking is not relevant to when TEAM B actually played TEAM A.
The "When they played" ranking should be what is used. Otherwise, it is looking back with present day knowledge.
It is like using a timemachine to jump into the future in order to know the true value of a team across the season that is about to be played.

And as it stands clemson has the best win of the season.
Yes, LSU has a lot of wins vs ranked teams. The gap between #3 and #4 is historically big. Clemson would be undefeated with LSU's schedule. Not sure if LSU would be undefeated vs Clemson's (Ohio State).
