Update on the 3 injured Clemson Pitchers

Postgame comment from Coach Bakich sounds encouraging:
“Those three guys, Gillen, Samol and Talan Bell are three big pieces to the pitching staff that will be back sooner rather than later. They are all on their progressions, but they are all throwing. They are all right there. I can’t give you an exact date, but it is close.”

Excited to see what Gillen and Samol bring to the lineup.

Samol is a flamethrower that will strike out a ton of guys but also walk a lot. He’s good enough to get out of his own jams….

Gillen was going to be a weekend starter before the injury….. he will give us another starter option as he gets back healthy but most likely going to be another high leverage reliever

Bell is a stud. Once he gets going I could easily see him being a midweek starter

😃 Bakich did go with the “they are out there at practice” angle.

This pitching that we have is improving each game. They will be very good by mid season. Add these 3 injured guys and we will be a force to be reckoned with.

No doubt… We already have a set weekend rotation with 5 reliable relievers in McGovern, Titsworth, Mahlstedt, Garris and Joe Allen. Dvorsky and Bailey have also contributed. Freshmen Chayce Kiek looks good with that nasty breaking ball… the pitching is not an issue at all

BJ was smoking it. Excellent outing, and he's had a couple. I was impressed with Kieck. Thought he looked very comfortable out there. Especially for a freshman.

He worked very fast and appeared to be confident in both his fastball and breaking ball. I love that we can bring the freshmen along slowly and give them more time to develop rather than rely on them. I just can’t wait to see what this staff will look like in a month
