So let's look at this McCarthy vote

Eleven Republicans voted against the motion to table the McCarthy vote just now, joining 207 Democrats in voting against McCarthy--they're even sitting with the Dems--while the rest of the 208 Republicans voted to table.
Eleven Pubs--just eleven--are about to oust their leadership and are voting with Dems to do it because they didn't get their way. For our Pub board members, how do you feel about this?

I think that it's a bunch of meaningless political theater. Doesn't really matter who the Speaker is as long as it isn't a Democrat. I don't understand really caring either way honestly.

I know I joke a lot about people who post on politics boards who don't follow politics, but this really takes the cake. Do you just not understand how congressional leadership works? Also, don't rule out this house ending up with a dem speaker.

Has she explained why she voted not to table the motion? This is an incredibly stupid exercise. Gaetz is a blowhard and grandstanding idiot. Mace hasn't met a TV camera she doesn't like.
Last I checked, no matter how conservative the next Speaker is and no matter what gets voted through the House, the Senate since it's controlled by the Dems doesn't have to take up a House bill much less pass the bill. I'm probably more conservative than McCarthy, but I'm also a realist. The numbers don't line up to get conservative bills passed by both the House and the Senate and get signed by Biden. You do the best you can. I'll lime up with McCarthy any day over the likes of Matt Gaetz.
So what's the point of replacing McCarthy? This is a self inflicted wound from the Pubs that the Dems are more than willing to watch unfold.
Watching this clown show doesn't do anything to encourage someone to vote GOP.

someone to vote GOP.
That's not why they are doing it. This type of stuff plays to the far right which is absolutely going to vote. It turns off middle ground pubs because it's not about winning elections (if it was, Trump would have been gone). It's about waging cultural wars and keeping their gullible following scared. That's how they keep power

I think you might have answered your own question. Mace is very, very self-important. And she's ordinarily also a realist and a centrist from a purple district.
I think Mace may well have been creating an opening for herself, using "McCarthy's broken promises" as a pretext. My own from-afar guess (and a guess is all it is, but it definitely fits what we've both seen of her) would be she saw McCarthy teetering, realized he needed only a slight shove...and voila, splat goes the Speaker. Then the normally-centrist Mace can slide on over to the other side of the aisle, make some deals, and now it's her running things...and MAGA is cut out of the equation.
We're a tribal people, and especially in Congress, conscience tends to follow the bloodiest spear. Once she secures the Speakership, most of the GOP Congress would fall right in line behind her, and certainly enough centrist Dems she could probably get stuff done.
I'd think it's particularly like since anyone who is not MAGA has long-since recognized the very obvious fact that there is no successfully bargaining with MAGA...any more than you can cut a meaningful deal with the Joker.

but the pubs wont vote him in. The right wacko arm of the republican party won't vote in a moderate so we won't have a speaker for awhile.
The republican party is a joke. Still much better than the dems, but there is no leadership.

clean up what republicans started? Had it been the exact opposite situation, every pub would have voted against the Dem speaker.
Gaetz caused a mess he had no idea how to clean up. He caused it, the dems aren't going to fix it.

this whole thing of how I feel about that "spotlight Ranger" d.o.u.c.h.e. Matt Gaetz. I'm certainly not a McCarthy cheerleader nor was McCarthy my preference for House Speaker back in January but I see no justifiable reason for what Matt Gaetz and 10 other Republican dumbazzes have just done.
This group of 11 Republicans went against the overwhelming judgement of their House Republican Party peers to include the overwhelming majority of the Freedom Caucus. What's worse is that these 11 dumbazzes gleefully allied themselves with the House Democrats, who hate the Conservative movement, to carry out their petty personal vendettas against McCarthy.
Matt Gaetz is a disgraceful, petty, backstabbing, lying piece of shid who is no patriot and I sincerely hope that he and the 10 other Republicans lose to primary challengers.

Pretty much for both sides, it let's you know they are much more worried about playing political games than being focused on the American people. Of course, I expect nothing less from the HoR at this point.

against tabling the motion to vacate McCarthy (which would have ended this vacate nonsense) and allowed the motion to vacate to go forward. I find those 11 to be just as contemptible as the 8 Republicans who actually voted to vacate.

I wonder how Gaetz will feel if a small cabal of "moderate"

Republicans (the ones he calls "RINOS") decide to adopt his tactics and make a bargain with the Democrats to pick a "moderate" Speaker that includes a House power sharing arrangement for their help. Things like giving the Democrats some committee chairmen positions and replacing conservative committee chairmen with "moderates"...
Ah... what am I thinking - Gaetz doesn't really care about the consequences of his idiocy - he just wanted to carry out his personal vendetta in order to be in the limelight. I still think Adam Schiff has the most punchable face in the House but Gaetz is sure giving him a run for the money.
