Ohio State will go undefeated almost for sure. So unless

us or Oregon goes undefeated, it will most likely be Ohio State vs a one loss SEC team.
I doubt we will be able to jump a one loss SEC team unless we lose to UGA, curb stomp everyone else, and end the year beating an undefeated South Carolina team.

Have to go undefeated for title game shot

As much as I hate it, 1-loss Alabama would get the nod over us. As you say, Ohio State has got some 'splainin to do if they lose this year.
Need to take care of UGA and the yardbirds and we'll be fine.

Not sure if you've looked at their sched but it sets up

really nicely for them if they get past at UGA in week 2.
They'll be favored in every game until Florida, and that's in Columbia.
It's a really easy SEC schedule.

So if the #4 scenario plays out

.... do the Gamecocks stick to their SEC pride and hope they lose so Bama can go back to the NC Game or do they hope they win and knock the SEC out of contention?

I can't believe so many people are actually falling for Ohio State as a super power. Yes, they went undefeated...but they edged out several crummy teams at home and in overtime. Put them on the same field as Oregon or Clemson last year and it wouldn't have been close...even if they were in the Horseshoe.
Maybe this year will be different. I know Meyer is a fantastic coach and has been recruiting well. However last year was about as lucky of a run as I've ever seen for an undefeated team. They had close games vs Cal, @ Michigan St, @ Indiana, vs Purdue (OT), @ Wisconsin (OT) and vs Michigan.

I agree Ohio State is far from being a national power. Thee are probably five or six teams that can handle them easily. A few that come to mind would be Alabama, Texas A&M, Oregon, Florida, Florida State, Oklahoma State, LSU, and our beloved Clemson Tigers.
