So tired of the "SEC is such a tougher conference" line. Totally bogus. But again, it helps them sleep at night to believe that.
SC has played a weaker schedule than us the last four years - backed up by this strength of schedule ranking/rating.
Next year their schedule is tougher and it'll be interesting to see how they do. I expect 7-5 at best and a possible 5-7 or 4-8.

It looks like a 4-8 schedule, but they always find a way pull a win for 2-3 games out of their ###. So I'd say 6-6 or 7-6 again.

because every year at the end of November the better of the two teams is determined on the field and Clemson has been consistently mopping the floor with them throughout history, and that trend isn't likely to change anytime in the foreseeable future.
One of the many problems with u of 5c fans is they they lack self awareness. They somehow think that because they play in the same league with some good teams like Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M and Georgia, that they are somehow good too which is clearly not the case.
When you talk about how weak the ACC is and then you get shutout and embarrassed 28 - 0 by a very average UVa team, continuing to flap your beak just makes you look even more ignorant, sad, and pathetic than usual.

It is interesting that they think they would beat everyone in the ACC (Except Clemson), but the team they lost to in their bowl lost half of the games they played in that "easy" conference! What does that say for what record the Gamecocks might have if they played in the ACC? They'd likely be pretty much in the same position they are in the SEC, fighting to win half of their games every year.

wouldn't be undefeated. Bama didn't lose in the SEC and the Tigers beat the snot out of them but still wouldn't be able to go undefeated in the SEC. Makes sense

I hate the SEC as much as the next guy, especially UGA and SCAR but I tend to agree with public perception that the SEC is the better conference over the ACC. I would argue that it would be harder for Clemson to go undefeated in the SEC (every year) than the ACC, the main reason is because of the rabid fan bases and venues. In my opinion it is harder to play at Tenn, SCAR, UF, UGA, Bama, TAM, LSU, MISS St, and Ole Miss than ACC venues outside of Clemson and FSU (and maybe you can put NCST, VaTech, Cuse and Louisville in there but not really)
Every year is different and the conference your team is affiliated with doesn't determine how good a team is, but if you think it is harder for clemson to play at BC, Wake Louisville, miami, duke, UNC, GaTech, Pitt than any of the teams i mentioned above you are not being truthful

in a playoff system cannot?
Also, people try to scale Clemson's dominance down by their competition. The fact is, Clemson is good because they are good, not because of who they play.

I'm talking more about averages and over time instead of this season specifically. If you had a choice would you rather play away at a venue that holds 100,000 people or one that holds 40,000 people? One that is considered one of the loudest places (LSU, Florida, TAM etc) to play or one that is considered sleepy (wake, BC, UVA, Miami, etc). Being objective, it is harder to win on the road infront of a loud, large crowd, then it is in a small venue where half the stadium is clemson orange
You also just ignored my blip where I said more or less then same thing that a team's success isn't dependent on the conference they belong too. We both agree here

See Tennessee.
The SEC is vastly overrated. Its a myth perpetuated by talking heads with vested interest.

I disagree.
Yea if you’re playing a good team home field advantage can be a factor in a close game, but Tennessee is still Tennessee in front of 100,000 or 20,000.....
I do think OVERALL the SEC is a better conference but it’s not nearly as wide of a gap as the SEC homers make it out and being in the conference doesn’t automatic guarantee that you are playing a tougher slate and that’s proven by the facts above.
South Carolina rarely plays the better programs in the SEC West.

I agree with you that the gap is not as wide as SEC homers make it out to be. Like all or most of the conferences, the SEC is very top heavy with the bottom 2/3 beating up on each other.
Right, Tennessee is still Tennessee, just like wake forest is still wake forest. Still, I would rather play at wake than play at Tennessee. Right?

Clemson didn’t go undefeated in the ACC previous two years either, what big news is the idea they wouldn’t go undefeated in the SEC? This year, however, seems pretty reasonable Clemson would have gone undefeated in the SEC since a lesser Bama did.

We beat the SEC champion this year that went 9-0 in the SEC by a score of 44-16. We also beat the team that finished 2nd in the SEC West on the road, and we beat a South Carolina team that went 4-4 in the SEC by 21 points. Last year we beat the SEC West champs, and we beat a South Carolina team that finished 2nd in the East and went 5-3 in the SEC by 24 points in a game we led 34-0.
South Carolina on the other hand played 2 ACC teams this year and lost both of them by more than 20 points. Maybe if we played Alabama every year it would be harder to go unbeaten, but if we simply switched places with South Carolina then I don't see the problem most years. Maybe if Georgia keeps playing the way they have the past 2 years it wouldn't be a guarantee to beat them every single year, but that's no different from when FSU is playing to their full potential as well.

and they're in the same conference.
Bama is clearly the gold standard or the bell cow in the $EC.
With the exception of UGa, the best teams in the $EC are in the West and u of 5c rarely plays any of them.

Of course their regular season SOS is tougher. They have to play us, the 15-0 National Champions, and we have to play them, a team that got shut out by UVA in the Belk Bowl. SC doesn't exactly help our SOS. The only legitimate gripe I have with our SOS is our ACC Championship game vs 7 win Pitt. The whole Coastal (UVA finished tied for 3rd) was a dumpster fire this year. Hopefully VT and Miami can return to relevancy.

We have beaten the SEC West champ the last 3 years and scored more points on Bama than LSU has in the last 5 years combined! In 2016 we beat the team and/or coach who had won 8 of the previous 9 NCs! No apologies necessary.

I didn't bother reading all the replies, but I'm just going to assume someone wrote something to the effect of....the reason their schedule has been so tough is because Clemson is on it! I mean...they are arguing something that we help them with lol. They make our schedule look weaker where as we make theirs stronger. But like someone else said and I've always thought the same thing, you can look at a team and just tell how good or great they are. It didn't matter if Clemson and Bama played 1 ranked team or 10 ranked teams, they were clearly heads and shoulders above the rest....simple as that. Its just easy to say you don't play nobody, but the thing is....we can make a top 5 teams look like a "nobody".
