We are fortunate to have him..and any family that wants the best for their kids would most definitely be wise to let This type of coach mold them into the best....
We appreciate our coaches ...

This guy is nothing but class. Hes honest and not dodging the questions like many other coaches would do. Nothing but love for this man, and if his time ever comes to an end at Clemson i'll pull for him to succeed. Great guy and represents Clemson in the way everyone should.

Wow, what a fantastic testimony to the program...

...and culture that Dabo has built. Brent has certainly built it with him, and understands what they have. Those were some strong comments from his heart. Great to be a Tiger!

It's got to be tempting to go after (yet) more $$$, but "wow," what an incredible situation he's in. He has earned it. Perhaps the best non-head coach in this great country!

Money isn’t everything. He makes a large salary and has none of the stress, politics, responsibility that a head coaching job comes with. With the money he makes what more could he want. He has a nice home, his children love being at Clemson. His wife loves Clemson and is fully ensconced in the family of coaches and athletes. He would have to disrupt their lives also and that was one of the main things he talked about when coming to Clemson. He said he wanted to find a home and stay there, that it would be unfair and a burden to move his family around chasing the next job.

Anyone can look from the outside and see that the culture at Clemson is very unique. Coach V is a major part of that and you can tell that he is genuinely happy. As we saw, OU did not deserve this man’s loyalty and hard work. You can bet your last dollar that he will always be appreciated here.

The mold was broken when that man became a coach, and he is one of the best diamonds that came out of the center of the mine that he came from. I feel that Clemson was blessed to get BV, and it is just to hard to find a diamond as clear as the diamond that BV was cut from. And I find it easy to praise our Lord for sending BV to Clemson!!!

Couldn’t have said it any better than allorange above and others in this thread. + infinity on everything.

I will however add that this should be the “story of the year “, article of the year- whatever. Perhaps the story/article of the decade! Put on a plack and hung under the banner: “What is Clemson “.

No wonder recruits parents are begging the staff to take a look at their son.

Thank you and your entire family CBV. We love you too!

BV gets it. One of the most valuable things in life is

Dec 14, 2017, 11:51 PM

knowing when you've got it good, or when you've got what you want. I know a lot of perpetually restless people who just never seem happy because they never seem satisfied.

Re: BV gets it. One of the most valuable things in life is

Agreed, egos and the chase for fortune and fame disrupt the true path to happiness in life. BV has life figured out! The important things are family, friends, loyalty, character, and ethics. As long as that staff stays in tact at CU we will stay on top of the mountain because we are going to get the best recruits in the nation. And when I say best recruits, it is not all about the number of stars beside their names, its about kids with quality of character and work ethic! There are 5 Stars out there that we do not need or want at Clemson and I think Dabo and his staff have made that clear. "ALL IN" stands for a lot more than just football acumen. I could not be more proud of CU as an institution.

In my time in school from 1990-95, I never would have imagined we’d have a coach, staff, and vision resulting in such principlined and sustainable success.

So proud to be a Clemson Alum!

Dec 15, 2017, 3:18 AM

N. Hood well done! I suspect it's hard to get Coach Venables in a talkative mood as he's always so focused on the next game. An amazing look into the greatest DC the Tigers have ever had. Jimmy Greenbeans spreads accolades around from top to bottom but is humble to not include himself except to appreciate the best coaching environment in college football. Why would anyone want to change that. Us fans likely don't really understand what that means.

Loyalty is big for this coach it's clear. We ought to make him an Honorary Alumnus. He is in my heart already.

Dec 15, 2017, 4:31 AM

I feel as if I'm living in a dream world of college football right now I just wish that my parents, who went to every home game, and especially my mother, who lived and breathed Clemson football, could be here to enjoy this time with me. My brother and his family are gamecocks, and I know our success is eating them up. But who cannot admire this entire coaching staff? They have set a high bar for the competition, and Coach V is right up there pushing that bar up every day. It must be frustrating trying to emulate this coaching staff. Thank you Coach V for all you are doing for these young men. Why would a defensive player want to play anywhere else if given the opportunity to be coached by Coach V? It's just a no brainer.

House coots, this is why we have had success

Dec 15, 2017, 8:02 AM

One of the best articles I have ever read on here and a great testament to Dabo and the culture he has built. To have the sustained success we have seen, you have to have tremendous leadership and accountability more than anything else. If you dont have it, you may get lucky every once in awhile with a recruiting class here or there, but are generally a one hit wonder.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: House coots, this is why we have had success

Dec 15, 2017, 8:29 AM

I agree!!

This is the BEST article I have read on Tigernet. It provides an insight/vision into the program that us outsiders will rarely see. Things are very good on the inside and Dabo is working very hard to keep it that way.

Fantastic job Nikki!

The thing he said the loudest was something he humbly did not say at all, he gives accolade to Swinney and what he built, I would say “they built”. They are becoming forever entwined like Beamer and Foster

Keep winning and stay in the playoffs...hes too busy to talk to anyone about another job.

This seems eerily familiar to what another great coach said many years ago....his name was John Wooden
