Small victories make the days a success

Apr 12, 2022, 9:16 AM

Took yesterday off since spring break started and went down to DC to hit the Natural History museum, let the kids see some of the memorials, and generally not be inside the house. Turned out to be a picture perfect spring day…mid to high 60s, partly cloudy, hardly any humidity. Lasted about 45 minutes inside the museum before twinsofgrouching had enough of the strollers and wanted to walk around. So we allowed it, which turned into a slight disaster because we would not allow them to sprint in the direction they wished. They got slightly distracted by the giant blue whale hanging from the ceiling, but eventually we left because we were those parents with those temper tantrum having toddlers.

Had lunch out on the Mall, or should say bought lunch and let it sit because the little ####### refuse to eat anything but cereal bars at present. Got to watch an elderly gentleman trying to make a few a bucks with a bass rhythm playing from a speaker trying to get people to dance while I waited for wifeofgrouching and lilmissgrouching to get ice cream. Saw a 9-10 year old absolutely tear it up and then a couple of teenage girls join in with him as the guy egged them all on. Pretty cool, made me smile. Let the boys and lilmissgrouching run around for about half an hour before we walked down from our spot beyond the Washington Monument down to the Lincoln. Always impressive to see it but GOODGAWDAWMIGHTY that’s a lot of steps. Anyway, headed back with feet on fire, luckily got out of the city before traffic got too heinous.

So, the small victory? Those cotdang boys gloriously slept from 7:30 last night till 9 this morning. A full morning of luxurious silence, no whining, crying, begging for god knows what because they refuse to speak. Just silence as I got ready for work.

Gonna be a good day Jounge.
