The thing that bothers me the most is the " Rome wasn't built in a day " comment . Seriously ? It's not like Clemson University has been wallowing in mediocrity the last few years ! We have won 2 National Championships against the mighty Alabama , one of them 44-16 against a team all the experts were saying was the BEST team in college football history . So WHY has our offense fallen off a CLIFF ? It starts at the offensive line period . We have 4* and 5* wide receivers , a 4-5* QB and 4* RBs and we still can't run the ball effectively consistently . Until that is fixed all the 4* and 5* ball handlers are going to make a difference .

David, is there any clarity on who calls Clemson's plays?

Is it solely T.E? Is it T.E. and Dabo? Streeter? Thanks for clarity ...

I’ve been asking this for weeks and have gotten every possible answer from other posters here.
Some have said that it’s an equal combination of Dabo and Elliott, while others have said that it’s just Elliott.
This is critically important to know.

The one thing I know is that Dabo is a problem solver . He will make the changes necessary for Clemson University to be back in the CFP !

The way I see it... the team needs to reinforce the OL from rushers with some TEs... Teach QB to roll out of the pocket more, whether to run or throw down field. Do these until you develop rhythm! RHYTHM IS the missing ingredient as I see it.

The THING I see missing in our present QB is that Lawrence would take the game on his shoulders by running if he sensed the need... This QB doesn't seem to have the fighting spirit of Lawrence nor the sense of team leadership... Much too laid back and accepting of defeat as if he really isn't placing a lot of urgency in the team's success... They win, they lose... oh well, it happens!

So many points this creating more turmoil.
I hope recruits don't get as jaded as most fans here, but it'll be tough. The "what have you done for me lately" aspect can't be trend. Got to have some big stuff to overcome the current stigma now

You can tell he is a whipped puppy. The shine has worn of the trophy and its time for him to earn his millions. Dabo is still my guy, love him as the coach for Clemson, but I think he has hard decisions coming up this year that he wont like! Time to turn the page on some the coaches and get our Mojo back!

What did Denny Green say - they are who we thought they were..... If there was any doubt coming into this game there is none left now. Will I continue to support and pull for them - of course I will. I am a Tiger and always will be and I have been there before many times when things were bad but it is what it is. Sadly, Dabo, I agree, the offense does not stink, no it reeks! I thought we might stumble by this year, win the ACC and maybe a bowl game and then revamp in the off season but its too late to wait for that now. And you wonder how FSU fell so far so quickly.....

Hmm, This is indeed now the $64,000 question that your by subtracting one two of greatest players in ACC History in Lawrence are Etienne from the current roster “ Was it Offensive coach staff coaching techniques or the Players on the rosters that was mostly responsible for the past six playoff caliber winning team?

I think the difference was Jeff Scott. TE clearly needs to be replaced. DJ needs to be benched.

Nobody gives the opponents any credit. Football players are humans and humans can only flip a switch to give effort or not. After we lost to Georgia, no credit was given to their defense as it was our bad offense that caused the loss. After we escaped last week against Ga. Tech, it was more of the same. The game is not over but horrible Tech is killing UNC. Because we have been so successful every player we play against wants to beat us and they are giving great effort. Maybe our effort does not match our talent or maybe everyone else who has the same 85 scholarships we do has as much talent and gives more effort.

Dabo is not blind to anything, he's just not going to have any knee-jerk reaction to criticism. He'll make the necessary changes after a thorough evaluation of his staff.

Dabo is not blind to it. He will make the change necessary, it’s unfortunate he did not see it sooner. It did take WVU putting up 70 on us to fire Steele. That turned out well. Change has to be coming and the ship will be sailing in the right direction soon. This season is going to be tough no doubt. Go Tigers

I think DJ is still out best QB, but give TP a series or two to change things up. It may surprise us (in a good way) or it might fire up DJ. Although struggling, I still think DJ may get it going. We did see a couple glimpses of good things today. Id still give TP a series or two to see if he can lead the team. It’s not a rule that you can’t play more than one QB. I think the biggest problem is we seem to repeat the same plays over and over and they aren’t working. Haven’t worked much in 3 games (can’t count SC State). We seem to have zero ability to adapt or scheme to help DJ. Very disappointing as I thought we would figure some things out to help. I’m a TE fan but where is the “eye candy”, jet sweeps, screen pass, tight end. It’s brutal to watch right now.

I'm certainly not biting on that rumor, probably started by BC, but the fact is the Portal, NIL and such are great for PLAYERS and horrible for TEAMS. Still, we are WAY below teams like Alabama in terms of players lost to the portal but it (the portal) caters to the current trend in young folks where there is very little loyalty to jobs, schools or teams - if you get offended or don't feel "comfortable" you just leave your job, school or team. Well, now you know my age but I don't blame the players AT ALL - they simply are not being put in a position to win by our current coaches (on offense) so the door has been opened for them to simply quit and move on. Will they stay or go? I have no idea, but CLEMSON is bigger than any coach or player and if Dabo is still the leader he has been then we don't have to follow the path established by FSU. I don't know that you can get any new coaches right now but changes have to be made. Maybe we can trade Elliott for Scott returning????

Dabo is our Head Coach and I'm very glad he is and Dabo is a problem solver . He will fix this either this season or at the end of the season . Many people seem to forget Dabo has won 2 National Championships . So, let's don't start acting like Auburn and want our HC fired because he isn't Nick Saban . FSU created their own demise when they treated the GREAT Bobby Bowden with little respect and then started that with Jimbo Fischer and he left because of it. We got problems this year on offense but it's not the end of the world . Dabo will fix it !

And Shipley got hurt, so he can't enter the transfer portal just yet. I Dabo doesn't change things the best players will be gone and we will go 2 & 8 this year and 1 & 9 nest year. If Dabo is such a great coach, how could he have thought we were such a great team as he stated before the Ga game. and then saying the Ga game was a battle of 2 heavyweights. He needs to shut-up and do what he is getting paid a fortune for - COACH. Of course he may have forgotten how sine Deshawn and Trevor made it so easy for him!! Come on DABO - Coach or NEXT MAN UP !! Maybe let Venables coach a game.

Why we stink?
Sep 26, 2021, 8:00 AM

That’s easy Trevor Lawrence isn’t there to bail out poor play calling. Big stinko is a bust. They mentioned a lot of his flaws except, his handoffs to the back are televised and awkward, TP looked smoother ( I doubt he will win a National championship for us) he can probably beat lame duck ACC teams. Stinko can’t. He’s 3-3 as a starter. And never beat a team with a pulse. Elliott should step down. DJ should warm the bench until he figures it out, or plays another position, TE or DE maybe. Our defense is being hung out. They don’t deserve that. GO TIGERS!!

Although I agree with the critique of Elliot and Big Stinko, I'm surprised no one is mentioning the officiating. Roughing the passer on a player who didn't touch the quarterback, pass interference on a player who didn't touch the receiver, etc. It was such a close game, those crap calls probably made the difference in who won and who lost. Somebody needs to audit those ref's bank accounts.
