Should the ACC get Texas?

Jul 23, 2021, 10:11 AM

Texas isn't going to the SEC due to A&M but what about bringing them into the ACC?

Would be great to get another blue blood and can you imagine Clemson-UT every few years?

If Texas goes to the SEC...

A&M will not be happy and will move to the ACC, along with ND. That would be great. We'd get a team that wanted to be here and the SEC could deal with the Texas drama. It would also be great if we could replace Syracuse, BC, and Pitt, while we're at it, but I have a feeling they are staying.

That would be ideal, but i don't see A&M leaving the SEC ... they'd be negative money moving away.

There will be serious bad blood between A&M and the SEC…

Jul 23, 2021, 11:02 AM

It will be bad.

The SEC isn't going to let A&M veto bringing in Texas.

Jul 23, 2021, 10:14 AM

Irregardless of that, I suspect Texas has no interest whatsoever in joining the ACC. If anything, the ACC is perceived as being just as weak if not weaker than the Big 12 that they are trying to leave behind.

I think you need 25% "no" votes... so A and m

A&M's only hope was that...

KY, FL, SC and/or GA were sympathetic to keeping out a state rival.

At this point it looks like a done deal with Texas and Oklahoma joining the SEC. reporting says they have the votes. Announcements could come as early as next week.

ACC needs to add A&M, WVa, PennSt and maybe Cincy… we are stuck with Wake, Duke, and Syracuse but hopefully that helps for basketball… Pitt is coming along on the football front.

UT will demand to be top dog in whatever league they end up.

Jul 23, 2021, 10:42 AM

They will want special privileges to continue their own TV network and probably want a larger piece of the pie at year end due to the "attention" they bring the league. Let them go elsewhere in my opinion. Their football is sub-par and does not match their unjustified ego.

Go Tigers!!!

Based on what I've read this morning, Texas is going

Jul 23, 2021, 10:57 AM

to the SEC, and Oklahoma is too.

I don't think A&M can stop them. As long as 11 SEC teams are for the expansion, it's happening. And it sounds like at least 11 are on board.

Wondering how anyone could think that adding a team located halfway across the country is a good idea. Have you not followed the saga of WVA and their travel requirements?

Reports now coming out it’s very real possibility that TX and OK are going. A&M may not like it but they aren’t going to give up SEC money to come to ACC. Unless they hate TX that much. My question is is it possible for SEC to try and force some of the lesser SEC schools out. Probably not possible with contracts but Vanderbilt and SC don’t do much for them
