but I still believe in Dabo and this team! Are we snakebit this year? I don't know. Seems like it. Never have I seen a team with as many fumbles inside the five yard line as I have with this team. The three games we have lost, we still could have won.

That’s ####### stupid. You want him to throw his players and coaches under the bus - midseason - so the wheels can come completely off? It is a contractual obligation for him to sit for the press. He is answering in the manner that he thinks best. It has worked overwhelmingly well for 14 seasons. You think his positivity is “lying” so you obviously think you deserve to hear him say something negative. Purely for your own self-satisfaction. When he criticizes the 1.5% do you think Dabo is so stupid that he thinks it’s going to change the behavior of the fanbase? He is speaking to and for his team and defending them from those fans. You don’t have to like but his track record here is pretty amazing so I’d probably just stop reading or listening to his interviews if you think he owes you something in them.

I can’t help you with your lack of reading comprehension. He directly accused Dabo of “lying” (sorry, “pretending”) by speaking positively about the team. Then wants him to “speak honestly”. If positive is “lying” (sorry, “pretending”) then, at bare minimum , he wants him to criticize the team. Given that he has already offered selective criticism of players and coaches, he obviously wants stronger criticism. I think “throwing under the bus” is a pretty common expression that covers it adequately. Btw - this isn’t really for your benefit. It’s for anyone that reads your drivel and might like a little clarity.

I think he would like to see Dabo own the situation and say we have some work to do. Not wax poetically about past and possible future success. And then call out some of the fanbase. He's made his bed with the hires and decision to not portal. Just own it. This would not require throwing players under the bus.

I responded directly to CUATFL. Shack jumped in saying that “that wasn’t remotely what he said” or something to the like. You seem to be agreeing with that sentiment. However, CUATFL doubles down and explicitly calls Dabo a liar (where he previously used “pretend”) several posts down completely validating my interpretation. Nor does he (CUATFL) refute any aspect of my interpretation. So you and Shack are both wrong. I know not to expect a Mensa meeting on TNet. But basic literacy would be nice.

I’d accept liar in the 2nd degree. You knew that you had no real basis for your belief other than an assumption. Had you been misled by an article that misquoted PJ Hall that would be more like manslaughter. You knew you might not be correct, you just didn’t know for sure that you weren’t. Welcome to the party but if you had actually read the thread, you would see that CUAFTL (whom I was directly responding to), 100% affirms my interpretation of his post. Explicitly calling Dabo a “liar” rather the less caustic “pretend” he had used before. Nothing in my post was “sunshine pumping”. I made no evaluation of the state of the program. I was stating that CUAFTL’s demands would be counter productive, which that would be, and satisfy only his own vanity. You don’t understand what a strawman is because it’s not the first time you’ve used it wrong. And I didn’t call him a liar but yes, wanting the coach to burn the program to the ground so you can say “look, I was right!” is stupid. And “burning to the ground” is hyperbole, not a strawman. And again, CUATFL takes no objection. So you’re not really in much position to argue.

Yes, the thread has become very convoluted. I was pretty sure you had used liar but it was a couple lines down from where another poster said he didn’t see “liar”. It doesn’t matter, Shack is another breed.
You and I can disagree - that’s fine. I don’t view anything that I’m aware Dabo has said as “lying”. But, I also don’t make a habit of watching coaches shows or reading his interviews. They are of zero interest to me.
I believe I used the term “throw under the bus”. I don’t think you have to say something is “the worst” for that to qualify. Dabo has to sit and answer questions. So silence is not an option. If he’s asked “do you think your coaches are doing a good job” what short of “no” is going to satisfy you? You’ve expressed a fair amount of hostility towards the state of the program and I would say calling someone a “liar” is a pretty strong character attack. Then you sort of walk that back and say I just want him to be “honest”. But it’s clear you don’t think “hey, we’ve got some things to work on” is good enough. Because he has certainly done that. He has criticized coaches individually and collectively. He criticized himself. And he has criticized players. So, knowing he’s done that, and you insist that he’s a “liar” and needs to be “honest” - is it really an exaggeration for me to believe you want him to “throw them under the bus”? Cause I don’t think so. Maybe these expressions are too vague. At the next presser, if someone asks “what’s left to play for and is it even reasonable to think it can be accomplished” what would you view as a honest answer?

There is a lot that needs to be fixed, but it is unlikely any of it will be fixed quickly.
Some won't like it, but I am guessing Dabo is handling things the way he feels God is leading him to, and on God's timeline. To him, that takes priority over the sentiments of fans and critics in the media. If and when that becomes a problem for Dabo's human bosses, I would expect him to move on.

We tend to forget just how close some games were...
TX A&M the ball bouncing over the pylon.
NC State missing the chip shot field goal.
UNC missing the 2 point conversion.
FSU and the illegal block call on the long Dalvin Cook run.
Troy game fumble return called back.
Stopping Louisville inside the 10 on 4th down.
Chase Brice against Syracuse game.
ND missing the 2 point conversion to avoid sending the game to OT.
Offside call against UNC on the onside kick in the ACCCG (yeah, they still would have to score and hit 2 point conversion just to send to OT).
NCState in 2017 when Finley moved to ball down to the 20 yard line down by 7 as time ran out. Louisville in 2015 missing a 24 yard field goal with 2 minutes left that could have tied it.
Boston College being up by 18 points in 1st half in 2020 (DJ game).
Absolutely, many/most of those were just great plays on our part...but there were so many close calls.
Dabo said winning isn't easy...the ball has bounced in our direction many times...this year, not so much.

No, snake bit as when another team catches a Hail Mary off a tip to beat you, or you have multiple quarterbacks injured in a season. Repeatedly fumbling the ball inside the 5 yard line is a discipline and focus issue.

Eric MacLain's comments at halftime on Saturday were spot on. This team is undisciplined and makes errors that suggest there's no attention paid to the details.
While the coaches have not done everything to put their guys in a position to win, the coaches can only do so much. You don't hear of this team having "players-only meetings" to hash stuff out. Somebody on that team's gotta step up and demand more from their teammates.

Yes we are snake bit, but Dabo threw the snake in the pit that's biting us, and until he makes some changes, those snakes will continue to bite us in the A$$!!!

I also agree when Dabo says this is a good team. We played about as bad as we could against FSU and Miami and still were in the games at the end. If the team can start consistently playing well, they would be a very good team.

We're not snakebit...just poorly coached and developed. Sankebit implies luck has something to do with it. With the amount of turnovers weve had its no longer luck or coincidence, this team is just bad. Sucks to say, but its the truth.

Even Jose Feliciano could see that this team is a little off. Last years ending and this years start told a tale. A Tale of Two Cities...Columbia and Clemson This years C/C game will be a Stupor Bowl. Expect a brawl.
