injury even though he was considering going pro. I have great respect for him for that. I hope he has a great NFL future. He was a pleasure to watch play and played hard every time. I'm not sure how much his near miss on serious injury in the bowl affected his decision, but I wish him the best.

He's exactly the reason more players should opt out of meaningless bowl games.***

He was targeted, in the formal and most penalized way, and probably...

has PTSD. He should have.
For you get all defensive know this, Ship was our best running back. When he started Mafah backed him up and got more yards. When Mafah started Ship backed him up and got more yard. Ship fumbled about half as many times/carry as Mafah.
I attribute the difference in their yards/gm to the defenses getting tired and fresh legs having the advantage.
I hate that Ship is leaving but I really believe it has as much to do with ACC officiation as about anything else.

And, Shipley was assuredly targeted multiple times throughout the season and it was never called

IMHO; and that is all it is... I think the injury put the whole thing in black and white for him... he's that close to being hurt and losing his NFL opportunity...
Cannot blame him for his decision one bit... hope he's McCaffery 2.0

I wish him luck and hope good things happen for him, but the outlook for RB's in the NFL is pretty bleak.

except the martyr-ish sounding, "Played the bowl with risk". All games that the athletes play in are an equal risk, whether the first or the last. You've bought into the media narrative propagated by many athletes over the years abandoning team in the name of "risk management". If you have committed to the team and uni, and they've paid your way, then play to the last whistle. Just because a lot of people are doing it (starting with I believe Leonard Fournette), that doesn't make it right. And Tyler Davis says hello.
