keeps saying "sliding slows you down" after Vieira slides into 1st there. Even brought up Usain Bolt. SMH! In track, there's nobody trying to tag you. Yes, sliding slows you down. But the point of it isn't to gain speed. It's to make you harder to tag. If Aby hadn't slid, the fielder probably could've tagged her before she reached the bag there. But by sliding, she put herself out of reach and forced the defender to go for the base, which she did and wasn't in time. Believe it or not, there are actually situations where sliding into 1st makes sense. It's not often, but that one was a great example.

You gotta love all the patience at the plate that the Tigers showed in the Bottom of the 6th to get on base via a lot of the time by walks...The good thing is that they weren't up there swing at every bad pitch like the innings before
