two 5* and Helms. I think we are okay the next two years. I'd rather have a 5* OL or rec. Just my .02 cents.

We have to keep 4 and 5 star QB's on hand, but we have that already. I would love to get a couple of game changers here at WR. Just think of the incredible catches our receivers made during our championship runs. The throws weren't perfect, but the receivers fought to make the catches. That is what we have been missing the last couple of years (along with consistent QB play). Go Tigers!!!

Exactly. Watsons throw to Leggett in CFP title was terrible

But Leggett managed to haul it in and most likely handed us the Championship.
In fact, several throws that Mike Williams snagged were just thrown up for grabs late in that game including the one in the EZ that got flagged for PI setting up the Renfrow catch everyone remembers.

It's not a choice between a QB or a OL or a WR as we could take all three if they were interested so the comparison is invalid. While QB is not an immediate need, if we cant land a future QB1 we need a developmental QB. The alternative is a portal guy but personally a guy like Wiles or Helms is a must.

We have the two-time SC HS POY on the team right now.

Trent Pearman.
Now you can say, he’s not D1 quality if you want, but I don’t see how you win back-to-back state player of the year if you can’t play football.

I would like to see a receiver with good ball skills, or a tight end that can flex depending on the play.

Not about being good for the next 2 years. It’s about being on the level of recruiting we need to be at to win championships.
And how do you even know we’re “okay” for the next 2 years? Cade likely will be good, but how good? Playoff good? NY6 good? We haven’t really seen enough to determine if we’ll be okay.
Lots of pushback for my honest take on this situation, but that’s because it’s a truth. Not negative, but something to be concerned with.

As I’ve written before, I don’t think it is critical to sign a top level QB this cycle. But it makes next year more critical and the margin of error much smaller for hitting on a difference maker.
For that reason it would have been good to have landed 1 of the guys we missed on. QB makes all the difference between being a champion and just being good.

If you are Vizinni and the staff brings in a QB are you happy?
Wonder if there was a gentleman's agreement. Asking.
He is likely to be sitting already behind Cade; getting another QB would likely have him hitting the portal.
But, that's my conspiracy theory.
I do not think we need to panic this year as well. We will be fine!

When the Portal became a thing, coaches giving promises like that probably went out the window.
We're seeing players transfer as early enrollees -- an 18-19 yr old's word isn't that solid nowadays any how so I couldn't see Dabo extending an offer like that to lure a player to sign.
I'm sure it's also crystal clear to the players that sign at Clemson (something along these lines):
1. We value you and want to extend an opportunity for you to come play at Clemson.
2. We're going to coach you up on the field and you'll receive excellent support on your Paw Journey.
3. However, there are no lifetime contracts at your position or guarantees you are going to start. You'll work hard and compete against other highly sought-after student-athletes.
4. Although we will support you as a student-athlete, we will continue to recruit the best players at your position each recruiting cycle. You can either embrace the competition or let it overtake you.

I'll tell you what; as a parent of a highly sought-after kid - if they were to give us a speech/spill like that: "I would sign right then"!
You didn't guarantee me anything, but you aren't going to guarantee the next kid either. Now, "I get to prove my worth on the field"! Politics won't come into play; you want the best on the field period is what that translates to.
Still - let's say this was said. Are these kids today mentally prepared for that? Or will they not want the competition? When they see that; do you not have to worry about the time and effort you have poured into a kid being wasted? Maybe not.

I would imagine Clemson weeds out those kids early that are afraid of the competition or of getting buried on the depth chart. As of late, you really need to be special to start in the lineup early or hope there isn't much depth to get playing time, especially at a major CFB program like Clemson. I certainly couldn't blame a kid for wanting to go to a different school where you're almost certain to start at your spot immediately or it is within reach once you step on campus, especially with NIL now a thing.
That said, I commend the college football staff for their dedication. As you mentioned, pouring all your time into a kid to be yanked away last second by another school for various reasons would be draining.
Also, unlike the NFL, there is no real off-season because recruiting is year-round and if you slack, kids may take the lack of attention personally and be turned off the next time you make contact. And we won't even start on the NIL/Free Agency manipulation that must be a mess to deal with as a CFB coach nowadays.

That logic doesn’t make sense when the kids that we missed on at RB in 23 went to schools like Bama and Georgia who are also loaded at running back

100%, signing QB is down the line a bit as an area of need...

at this point, any 4☆ WR will do(would be nice to sign a WR with the speed to pressure the backend of a playoff level defense)

Once they get on campus and start playing it doesn’t matter how many stars they are. You don’t know how good a kid is going to be until they start playing. You always want to out recruit the talent you have
