Nice old house that looks like it's falling apart...was it part of a large tract of land that predated the interstate?

I think I remember it being lived in when I was in school (in the 90s).

Go Tigers!

I believe it’s becoming a shopping center. Would have loved to have seen the place in it’s prime.

As a child growing up in Anderson, in the late 60s and 70s, that house was always referred to as the Abney House. Abney Mills back then was one of the largest employers in Anderson,. Anderson, was still a Milltown in those days. It was owned by someone with family ties to the Abney family. Whenever we would drive by the house going to Sandy Springs or Clemson, as a child I would think how much fun it must’ve been to have lived in that house and have all that room to play Outside. Thank you fellow Tigernet friends for the above videos. So sad to see that the house has been allowed to crumble into such disrepair. I guess someone some day Someone will purchase the property, demolish the house, and put another gas station or hotel up.

absolutely horrendous. They cut down all of the huge live oaks and stripped the site. It looks awful.
The project hasn't changed in many months. It doesn't appear to have any erosion control efforts on the perimeter. The development costs have to be huge for that property with that much elevation changes. This gives development a bad name.

That seems par for the course when it comes to developers

Buck was a real character! I remember him in the 60's and 70's driving exotic race cars around the southeast.

Isn’t that where the Costco is going? I agree it seems they could have found a cheaper plot of land to develop. There is nothing remotely level about that property. Hate to see such a beautiful piece of property destroyed

is actually going to be quite different. I saw some workers there the other day so I pulled in and asked a bunch of questions... in short, the crew there didn't know which company, but confirmed it's going to be a retail space.
